I'm goin blind on this one, any info on camping areas, access roads, deer migration, GPS coordinates on a 200" buck(just kidding!) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks--JM.

Come on guys even a wide spot in the road would be more than I have right now.....

You'll be lucky to ever get a guy on this site to share info on a honey hole. Do yourself a favor and call the DOW. Find out who the big game biologist is for this area as well as the warden. You'll get the info you're looking for. Then if you bag a nice buck, feel free to share the exact location with the rest of us...

Problem is that 43 late has no real honey holes. Most of the deer will be on private ground. Most of the Yuppie residents of the Aspen area don't really let hunters shoot the deer on their property. There are some low level State Wildlife grounds, but they get pounded hard during the 2nd-3rd season. My guess is the 3rd season could be better than the 4th....

43 was touted as a great unit this past Spring and many people fell for it. If it is really that good then why, years past, have there been 1,000+ tags left over after the draw? Why are there so many landowner vouchers for sale, cheap? Good luck on your hunt. You will find some deer, but most of the quality will be on private lands, which do not need to be posted "No Tresspassing" by the landowner. Know where you are, don't go to high, get away from the roads, and glass a lot.

That country is huge in the early seasons (archery/early rifle/muzzleloader) but it gets really small this time of the year. A ton of the public land is above timberline and the majority of the low stuff is private.
Find a map from trails illustrated or something that details private land boundaries and talk to the local DOW manager from that region. Leave him a message he will do his best to call you back. He'll shoot straight with you. The forestry service district guys in the aspen office may be able to point you to some areas that are still accessible as well although they know very little about the game in the area.
There's just not a lot of land accessible to the public this late in the show. Good luck.

I wasnt asking for a honey hole just a place to start, thanks for all the replies.--JM.

I think the concensus is that there's not much public land open during that season. Call the dow area office and they'll give you the type of information you're asking for and point you in a likely direction based on where they think the game is and what type of public access is open now. I think unit 43 is managed out of the area 8 office from Glenwood. The number is (970) 947-2920. They can direct you to the correct person if the area number is something else.
Good luck and let us know how it goes
