Hey HighDesert / AKA Davesterjr

How have your hunters done this season? Looking forward to hearing stories and seeing photos from the hunts you listed below as they complete.

#1 Hunt 171M The Juniper Muzzleloader for Oregon takes 10 or more years to draw this tag they do not even list the odds for a non resodent to draw this one
#2 Hunt 174M North Warner Muzzleloader It will take a non resident 7 yeras to draw this one.
#3 168A Trout Creek Mountains OMG the number one deer tag in the state of Oregon takes 9 years to draw this tag
#4 170R1 Hart Mtn National Antelope Refuge Archery Deer Tag this is a 6 year draw in itself.
And finally the Tag i am looking most forward to conducting is the 675T hunt i have always enjoyed taking kids hunting and the enjoyment mind you this tag is the is for youth only and takes about 5 years to draw.
I also drew tags for NE whitehorse Both warner Units the South Juniper unit and the Beattys Butte unit the wagontire unit.

thanks:

When this post first came out I thought it was BS. Not sure how anyone could draw all those tags, outfitter or not so will also be interested to see the results.

oregonmuley

He did draw the tags. You can get a list of not only what an outfitter drew but what he applied for and did not draw.

He seemed pretty happy with his draws, so I am interested to see his results.

He may or may not have hunted all those tags. He has to have them sold to non-resident hunters by Apr. 15 (I think) or the ODFW gets them back. Last time I talked to Dave he still diddn't have them all spoken for.

Hey koyote

Last time I spoke to him he had sold the 4 he listed out, those are the hunts I would like to see an update and photos on.

If you see or talk to him tell him to post up and give us an update.

I am around on dad's account I have not been home to Eugene for a few weeks. But here is abrief recap.
Lets see here Year has been both incredible highs and lows but wait lets see that is hunting.
Guy with the Hart Mountain Tag Gut shot a Buck and lost it. I was a mile away and watching the buck when he shot and the buck went around the hill and went out into the flats. Part of the booking policy is that if you hit an animal your hunt is over well he did not like that got real real pissy and started trying to say who what when where and how things were going to be. So i kept looking for his animal for 2 days but would not let him hunt. Needless to say he was unsuccessful We did not find the deer. Deer was eventually found 4 miles from where it was shot by a Muzzleloader hunter.

Juniper Antelope well Guy who purchased the Juniper Muzzleloader also drew a Juniper antelope tag with only 4 points he showed up to the hunt with a Broken foot and an air cast. Was a fun and enjoyable hunt. Client wanted a buck with lots of character and wall appeal so we took this nice goat.

Next came East Trout Creeks Big Horn Sheep. I brought in a Sheep guide from nevada to help me out and he did a hell of a job in helping us out harvested largest ram ever taken out of the East Trout Creek Mountains. He went just under 169.

As far as deer go during general rifle. Was some tuff hunting deer were scattered all over the place due to the excessive amount of water during May. I did not guide until the 2nd half of the season. As i had alot of hunts going off the first season 11 all together. I Hired some guides out of Nevada with mixed results. Got some people on some decent bucks there were a few blown stalks a few misses and such but wagontire group ended up 3 for 3 2 4x4's and a big 3x3. Trout Creeks Guy wanted 30" or nothing he came home with nothing. Guide put him on a couple of real real nice bucks but he said 30 or he goes home.

North Warner Rifle I guided Client missed a Huge Typical 190+ buck at 280 yards 4 times. His Reason "he could not stop looking at the bucks horns" We were on a stalk on a nice 4x4 26" class buck and this buck stood up in the flat. So he harvested a small 3 point. He has already left a deposit for him and 3 buddys next year on whatever hunts I draw that i feel will be fun and enjoyable hunts. He was pretty stoked about the hunt.

Next hunt for me to guide is the Interstate Youth Rifle. Rusty Hall's Son Kade was fortunate to get that tag and is coming on that hunt. They should be here tomorrow. So that pic will not be posted on here unless it is under 180. As i am pretty sure that will go in the magazine if we are successful Early Preview for that Buck will come down at MDF Convention if i book a booth. North Warner and Klamath Falls Muzzleloaders are being drop camped. Guy who did Klamath Falls also drew 13b in Arizona he should get here on about the 14th or 15th. He will miss the first few days of the hunt but that will also make it to where i can help him out when he gets here. That and alot of friends do not want trespassers but if i am there all the gates are unlocked and i went out looking 2 days ago found 2 big non-typicals and a couple of other nice big heavy 4x4's

Then i will end with the Juniper Muzzleloader depending on what we harvest on that hunt it maybe posted maybe not. Have to talk to Charlie about that one. Then it is back to school for 7 months to work on my masters some more and see what tags the Corporation draws in December.

But here are a pic of the goat and the Ram we took. that I was able to resize.

So how did the raffle antelope tag holder do! Our Govenor's tag holder ended up with a 86" goat on the refuge. Bruce said he saw you down there, I was around there somewhere but who knows where. Our hunter was kinda dissapointed with his goat, everyone fills his head with the 90" buck stories. It seems everyone you talk to has seen a 90 incher (BS). I saw a couple that I thought might go 88 but they couldn't hold out.

Jeff

I was doing it pro-bono for the first 4 days. Put him on a couple High 80's goat best one was a Buck off of Desert Lake down by cat Butte but unless i said it would go 90 he would not shoot. I never saw a 90" goat until after the season. But the same thing guys at Fish and game put the 90" or better mark on them. Got a 1/2 hour of video at 264 yards standing broadside and laying down. Kelly looked at the video and asked the guy what he was thinking not harvesting him. I had the goat at 88-89 I picked him apart. Nothing like 60 power at that range hehehe.

I saw Denny and Bruce up there. So After that i was busy the guy went over there and hunted for that same goat for 4 more weekends the whole time i knew where he was. So he settled Listen to this Under 75" goat with a statewide antelope tag. I had nothing to do with it. I was sheep hunting when he killed it. Refuge manager said the guy stated I really screwed up passing on that one. I get a good laugh out of it the old Piggies get fat hogs get slaughtered rule applied.
Have you found Denny's Buck yet.

Talk to you later
Dave

Tell Charlie good luck. On everything. Some things are more important than hunting. You will know what I am talking about when you get in touch with him.

I haven't found Denny a buck but Bruce is having good luck, just waiting for Denny to show up next week. I'll miss out on the Gov tag guiding this year. I leave Wed for Montana to hunt deer and my 410 elk permit.
