Not may pictures posted lately... I would think that there would be a pile on here by now!

Is the weather making for tough hunting?

Deer hunting in some areas of Colorado was extremely tough this year. However, I do have some pics and would need help posting them.

The deer in CO are located in Unit 44! The poor souls who puked out $8,500.00 for a fourth season tag have got to be getting a little concerned right now. Seems that the extended weather foreskin does not look too promising. Oh, well someone may get lucky and whack that 300 inch non typical. Good luck.

Way to go guys. Thats a nice buck! I'm surprised at how slow it is around here though. I would have thought that there would have been a truck load of deer up by now...

I just got some pics from interpolny on the deer he and his family took. Impressive to say the least. His son's buck will definately be published by someone next year. Rough gross around 183. Other than that not much success stories so far. Good luck to those still out there.

I'll post my wife's deer she shot on sunday--182 frame and 32 inches of extras!! 10 minutes from our house!

Drummond/Jeff did you get the picture?

Yeah the weather screwed everyone this year. I thought I was gonna have to ride around and scare the deer cuz I didnt get a tag, but no snow saved me from having to do it.

Trying to see if this picture posting process works. We went 3 for 3 for second season Unit 55. Great time and great hunt! -crestedbutte-

I think the bulk of the big CO bucks are still alive and well, good luck to the fourth season hunters...Steve

My brother and I hunted 31 and it was definitely tough with the weather pushing 70 every afternoon! Killed small bucks biggest a 23" four point after a 3 hour stalk in the rim rock. Had chances at 2 monsters but they were ghosts in the cedars gone in a flash. Didn't see the numbers of 22-24" bucks we normally see and pass up this year partly the no snow issue harder to see. Definitely put forth the effort so have to be content and wait til next year. nwhunter

"foreskin does not look too promising"

It doesn't look promising to me either, theridge.

Some really nice bucks being killed but nothing close to the anticipated and much "hyped" hunt of the century. Lots of preference points burned. Lots of checks written for vouchers and probably quite a few pretty sour experiences.

I think the quality of buck hunting here in Colorado would have suffered immensely if we had gotten a substantial snowfall and accumulation prior to the third season opener. The later season structure this year and the snow would have combined to make bucks much too vulnerable IMO. Its a strange irony that this later season dates and the hype for the great quality of deer hunting ended up having a third season with t-shirt weather and highs in the 60's and 70's. Who'da thunk.

As far as Bambi's ? "Where are the CO deer?" From what I saw, scattered high and low with big buck tracks still all the way up at 10,500' as of last Thursday.

Well I hunted unit 44 this 3rd season and I did see bucks, but nothing worth taking. I was pretty dissappointed for a number of reasons not just the weather. With all the snow they are getting now I'm guessing 4th season will be a record harvest.

All I can say is "Thank God" that the area I hunted didn't get snow. With all the hunters in the area it would have been a slaughter if the weather changed.

Well the weather may be here now. Looks like January outside right now. Actually looks more like Iowa(blizzard conditions) than Colorado. The silly late 4th season is gonna screw up deer watching this weekend.

Congrats guys on some outstanding bucks!

I ended up pulling the trigger way to early (a bad habit I've got to break :)) given the number and quality of bucks I was seeing, but had a great hunt w/ my brother during the CO 3rd season.

Theodore Roosevelt once said, "The nation behaves well if it treats the natural resources as assets which it must turn over to the next generation, INCREASED and NOT IMPAIRED in value."
