Anyone out there get a letter from an Arizona outfitter that askes how you would like to hunt 25 sections of property that the public does not have access to in unit 10? A cousin of mine who drew a bull tag for the unit did. He was born and raised in Ashfork, AZ still lives there and has hunted this unit his entire life. He was curious and called one of the phone numbers. He questioned the outfitter about whether or not the property was all private or not. This person said he was not sure. When he asked the outfitter where the ranch was, he was told 22 miles north of Ashfork. My cousin then asked if it was the Goldtrap ranch (unit 10 map say's Truba). The outfitter said yes it is. My cousin then explained to him that everyother section on this ranch is a state section and could leagaly be accessed from the forest service land to the south and the sevens ranch to the west. At this point in there conversation the outfitter decided he didn't want to talk any longer. My cousin and myself have spoken to an employee of azgfd in Kingman, AZ about this ranch in the past and if it was legal to hunt the state sections of the ranch. We have both been told that we can as long as we do not cross private property to do so. We have also been told that we can transverse from state land to state land at the corner sections but to be very careful and use a map and GPS to make sure we know where we are. I am not trying to cause a big fuss or any problems just trying to let a few people out there know that things might not allways be what they seem and to share some information that we have been given by game and fish.
