I ran into another stumbling block. I am flying out to Montana and measuring my Plano bowcase it is larger than the max of 62 linear inchs for baggage requirement. My Plano measures 69". I also was told by others that the airline will not accept plastic hinges only metal. After looking at the airline web site I found nothing pertaining to hinges.

Can anyone help me as to how close the airlines keeps to the 62" number and the hinge issue?

3Js - I travel alot with my bow and the size shouldnt matter since it is close... never had a problem with the hinges but from my experience you should get the best case you can afford. I use an SKB bow case- After getting my sights broken in a plano i switched to the SKB. The airlines are super hard on bow cases- JMHO good luck on your hunt. I fly out on sept 8 for a two week hunt in Montana too-Hatrick

Hey Hatrick,

Good luck to you also. Where abouts are you headed. I am in the Gravely Range. Fisrt Elk hunt ever for me. Any tips as far as what to take along. Everyone states be prepared for hot and cold. My question is how cold. We are going in on horses in a remote camp. The 50 lb limit for baggage adds up fast. I plan on packing my bow case with cloths to help protect my bow. Good idea or not?
