When and how much do you cow call if they are screamin and talkin? When and how much cow callin if they are not making much noise? Just wonderin. Thanks

I usually call as the situation dictates. Sunday I was talkin to the elk for an hour, I would mew or chirp, sometimes 2-3 times a minute. The herd bull was sure fired up and the cows were going crazy! The bull got most fired up when I would do the cow-in-heat call. Sometimes, I would mew in a tube (to really get the sound out there). I wanted to give the impression that there was more than one cow. They were a couple thousand yards away, but could not get them to come to me. I had a blast though. I love talkin to them, especially when the big boys SCREAM!

They were talkin for about an hour after the sun came up. Didnt hear a peep for the rest of the day (except other hunters).

A couple thousand yards away?? You heard cows mewing a couple thousand yards away??? Just asking.
Nothing like guttin' a 6x6 elk at 7:30 in the morning.

yep, I sure did. Maybe it was less than a few thousand yards away (as I didnt range them). But I sure know it was atleast a thousand. What a dumb thing to challenge. Just sayin'
