Tough Hunt. 15 min. into my hunt I see the biggest buck I would end up seeing. I decided to pass and saw other bucks, but nothing of much size. I am happy with this buck, I figured I probably would not get one. Killed him with two days left in the hunt. Was hoping for the 200+ buck, but had a blast. Hope that someday I can draw again, hey I drew with zero points, why not again huh? 13a by the way.

Way to go man!!!! 183 is way big for most people, me included. Plus it was like a gift. Did ya ruin another cape with that cannon? Hopefully not, maybe you could trade the cape for a nice Euro, since your gonna have to sell the new house to pay for all the others anyways!! Looks like hes been fighing a bit lately, Eh??? Congratualtions again, cya.........

a little short on the main beams but a shooter none the less, Congrate's man...awesom

Definately short on the MB. Only 20" of Main Beam. He should of had 24 or 25 Main Beam, and eyeguards of course. With eight more inches for MB and 4" of eyeguards, he would have gone over 190. But that is the way it goes with me. Something always weaks out, but hey, if you killed the perfect buck, what would you do then? Well, I guess you would go try to shoot a bigger more perfect buck.

Great buck man... Short main beams or not I think he's pretty nice. Congrats!!!

Jason,

It's hard turning down a 180+ buck, done it several times. Like you said, it's a once-in-a-lifetime hunt, and you gave it 110%. Maybe another time? You luck sucker!!

Man Jason!! that is a great looking buck and that mass!!

Your like 100% harvest this year on all your tags! and real trophy quality on all of them!

Alot different hunting out on the Az. desert than up in the wyo. alpine basins??? or glass-glass-glass the same?

LAST EDITED ON Nov-19-05 AT 08:39AM (MST)[p]Nice deer little bit here and a little bit there and he would of be a 190 class, still a great deer with the weather and all. I would love to hear about the area's you hunted if you could PM I got 6 points right now hoping to draw in the next year or 2

Congrats on your buck. I just sent you a PM about your hunt. I was fortunate to harvest a big buck on the second day of my hunt, his gross score is 202 and his net score is 190 6/8ths. (This is my first deer) You can see some pics of the buck under the post-called 13A success 6x7 non-typical. Email me back when you get a chance.

Thats a Bruiser!! Love how massive he is. Cant believe you would pass up something bigger. Congrats and thanks for posting.

Drum,
Figure the first buck was 28" with split eye guard on one side and about 4" busted off on his right G4. Great forks and height and would go around 190 or so. That is the guess. Had him at 300 yards, and got lots of video. Don't regret it though. It was the first day and he was the first buck. Can't kill the big dog if you kill the little dog.

Snowman, I was lucky this year, but never got the "huge" animal. But hey, I had a blast and someday it will happen. I hope you get your booner some day. It wasn't easy to pass deer up, but you never know what might step out from behing a ceder tree at last light, but with 2 days left, and this buck coming 600 yards right to me, I figured I shouldn't let the opportunity go.

Please Deer,
I'll try to post all the animals I got this year, what a year! Lots and Lots of glassing, but harder there because there were not a lot of vantage points. And if you did get up high on one of the taller hills, they were usually cover with thick cedars and you could not see much any way. Tough.

Thanks for all the comments,

That's a stud of a buck, and you drew the tag your first year!!! Freaking crazy!

I know the feeling about there's always something not quite there-short beams, no eyeguards, etc..... I guess that's why it's so tough to hit that 190 net. No way I'd pass up a buck like that. Congrats!

Well you did it Jas! You ran the table again you lucky sucker! That is a great buck man!!!!! I love the massssss it has. What a pig. Good thing it was closer than 500 yards plus. ha ha. I'm looking forward to seeing all the animals you killed this year in one picture. And to think I was there on two of them. Thanks for the times man.
