Epek Broadheads

Just wondering if anyone has a few stories about the Epek broadhead and how they performed this year? I shot an elk on the 2nd weekend and the Epek did some major damage once it was inside the elk. The entrance hole was about what I would expect if I had shot my field point. I was glad that elk died within 20 yards of where I first shot him. My buddy used the Epek a few days ago on his wasatch bull and had a very similiar story. Anyone else care to share? I LOVE how they fly, but wondering about a less than perfect hit and following a blood trail.

Yes, I hit a buck forward of the shoulder and did not get an exit wound. I had no blood trail. We found 6 or 8 drops over about 250 yards. I wasn't sure where I had hit he buck at the time and we eventually gave up assuming that I may have hit him really low in a leg or something. I found the buck the next weekend and was really suprised. He had made a complete circle around me and had died a total of 200 yards from where i initially shot him. So he traveled a total of maybe 450 yards. The arrow was stuck in his neck just in front of his shoulder. It should have bled really well. The blades did not cut the hide of the deer. I had no wound channel to bleed out. It was like I shot him with a field point. The damage inside the deer was probably fine though the blades had deployed at some point. It sucks. My second straight year of tagging a carcass. It was a nice buck. I hate to waste them.

I am considering fixed blades but I really like the convenience of the mechanicals.
