My experience is there is about 200 acres of public land and it holds bulls untill about 5 minutes after shooting light. That's when 40+ local boys and their bows chase the bulls into the private....shooting them in the legs, foot, butt,.....and they will even shoot them from the highway out of their trucks as the bulls try to find the way to the private or up to the forrest service boundary. It sure makes for a fun day if you are with a game warden as you get about 50 tresspassing/poaching calls that morning. Last year I was there for the opening and there had to be 50 quads on the border waiting to ambush the elk that had thier tounges hangin 2 feet out of thier mouths from being ran all morning.
If you know somebody with private with hay bails you should be ok, but it is quite the sight...it reminds me of the "milk the wild cow" scene at the Pleasant Grove rodeo if you know what I mean.

I'm pretty sure that this hunt is only in place to keep the elk east of Hwy 89 in order to keep the college kids from killing themselves hitting elk all winter...and it sure does that:)

Sure blame the Local guys!!! I bet most of the 50 tresspass/poaching reports you talk about were not LOCAL guys, most of them know the property boundries. I say most of us, not all.
