Book Cliffs

Has anyone been seeing anything good down there so far? My dad has a ML tag and we cant wait for it to start. We've been down scouting a bit but the archery hunt seems to have moved the elk around some. I think the rifle will too. The good thing is that I think they will be rutting hard come Sept 23.

I ALSO HAVE A MUZZLELOADER TAG AND I CANT WAIT, MY SCOUTING TRIPS HAVE NOT TURNED UP ANY DECENT BULLS BUT LOTS OF COWS. EVERYONE I HAVE TALKED TO SAYS BE PATIENT THE BULLS WILL BE THERE, ESPECIALLY IF THE HOT WEATHER DELAYS THE RUT, IT SHOULD BE GREAT

Put 200 miles on our bikes down there in 3 days learning the roads, checking out spots for my dads muzzy elk hunt. The elk are sure holding up in the trees out of the heat. The remaining archery hunters down there were having a hard time, not locating the elk but trying to get shot oppurtunities in the limited time in the mornings and evenings. The bucks seem not as effected by the heat and are more visible.

I'll be heading donw a week from tomorrow and hopefully they are ready to talk. I'm pretty excited it should be a great hunt!!!!!

I saw this one at the gas station in Wellington on the way back from San Juan. The guy said it came off the Books. He said they weren't talking. Nice bull. I really like the little sticker! Good luck. These storms will light them up! (It was dumping rain from Green River to Soldier Summit).

Hey Guys,

Great topic!

My wife drew a Book Cliffs ML Elk tag, too, and we've been nothing but excited to get going!

We'll probably be headin' down on the 19th, and checking out the area. We're pretty familiar with the Book Cliffs, so hopefully things will go well.

We're firm believers in collaborating with fellow hunters, and we're always happy to help keep an extra eye open! Hope to see ya down there, and good luck!

My Bro has a muzz deer tag down there. If any of you find some good deer let me know. I'll be in a dark green late 90's dodge with a shell and an green arctic cat ATV. I'll keep an eye out for a good bull for you guys as well.
