Here is my Wasatch Archery Bull. I got him yesterday on Sept 7th. 53 yard shot. The bulls were talking good but not responding well to calls. I had great luck just sneeking in on their bugles and letting them give away their location on each stalk. Got in close on a few pigs but couldn't get any clear shots. This bull is definetly not the biggest bull I was after but he is a sweet looking bull and with a bow on the last week I wasn't about to pass him.

Tomorrow I am heading out to Colorado for Archery Antelope. It should be a good hunt!

Great job and animal! No, you shouldn't pass him up......bow or rifle.

Within the shadows, go quietly.

Great Bull Jason!!!! Congrats!!! From what I hear, it's been a tough year for the early archery elk hunters hear in Utah, so congrats on connecting on a good bull when the rut has been slow coming!! Now looks like you can get back to chasing bucks, right?!! Again, great bull. Congrats!

All things considered I am very happy with this bull. It was a tough hunt this year and I know alot of guys ate their tag. With the hot weather the full moon and early season dates I am betting the sucess rate for wasatch archery is going to be around 15-20% compared to the typical 25-30%. It was tough to get into the elk at all and there was not alot of bugling going on in many areas. I just went silent most of the time and just followed bugles in until I was within range. It was not the limited entry tag many hoped for with the conditons and dates. I have to say as a crazy mule deer hunter that was pretty darn fun. I kept getting crap from everyone because I hunted deer for the first two weeks of my limited entry elk tag. I would just say "relax I can get another elk tag in 10 or 15 years... I want to shoot a deer first." Truth be told when I buckled down and started really hunting elk it was a blast. I have killed 10-12 elk before this hunt but this is my first good bull with a bow and I would have to say it got me hooked. I am not going to stop archery hunting for mule deer because of this hunt but I guess now I hope that my 13 points in Colorado gets me another good archery elk tag. I could probably schedule it in around my other hunts if I "had" to!!!!

Good luck to all the Rifle elk hunters
