Fish lake, Pang. Lake, DUTTON!!

over the last couple months all of us have had our opinions about these three units. Tempers were raised, opinions were expressed and thus far I have heard very good reports about bulls taken off of the best unit in the state (dutton) and not much word about these surrounding units preferably the pang. lake unit, which is the unit I was told was 5 times better than the dutton!! Anyone hear of any bulls from these other two units?

I have spent the last 3 years on the Dutton, this year I spent 10 days helping on a archery hunt and the last 2 years on the late hunt. This is the most pathetic year and you will see that the rifle hunters will be dissapointed in the quality of bulls this year. I saw 3 bulls that went 360 to 380 over those 10 days with one of those bulls getting shot, alot of satelite bulls are on the mountain but not as many as in the past. I drew a tag on the late hunt 3 years ago and took a 350 bull that was probably 1 of 4 bulls not busted up. Dutton is on the down years and all with all the spike hunters putting pressure on these bulls this year it will be tough to get a decent bull. I would be shocked if you here of more than 4 bulls over 350 come off the mountain from now until the late hunts!

funny thing about that, I already know of two 380 bulls shot with a bow on that unit and this last wed a solid 360 bull was taken and that was with archery tackle.

I have a good friend hunting the Dutton now. He is actually very encourage with the number of BIG bulls he is seeing. Over 350.
This is his 3rd time either hunting it or helping someone hunt it, and feels this is the best year yet.

There were a few awesome bulls taken on the Archery in fact the guy I was helping hit a 7x6 that would go in the 370's and I spent 4 days looking for this bull and then he spent additional 4 days looking after I left he ended up eating his tag because he really wanted to find that bull. I just don't think that there will be many nice bulls taken this year but we will see in a few more days.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-13-09 AT 10:30PM (MST)[p]first yes i did eat my tag missed two good bulls one was 340-350 and one that was quite abit bigger never gt a good enough look and wasnt worried just wanted him on the ground,i hunted my buns off!!!!!literally! hunt was rough and the amount of spike hunters fouled that unit pushed everything out!unit is to accessible to have that many spike hunters hammering it. i was chasin a giant herd bull but never could catch up to him ... second i never once said pang was better i said dutton is not some magical unit! because its not!panguitch usually has huge bulls come off every year jsut like others units like sw des beaver etc dutton usually has good ones two i just got sick of hearing how much better dutton is when its not.next i dont know why you needed to bring up this dutton crap again!
