I didn't get the big mature buck I was hoping for, but the last day buck I got is good enough.

It was very frustrating with the fog the first seven days of the permit hunt. Saturday and Sunday the clouds lifted, but finding a shootable buck was still rare. I feel the rut slowed down. Some other lucky hunters took nice racks home. I love hunting around Thanksgiving, but you can keep the fog.

Congrats!
Looks like a nice buck to me.
Better than eating turkey!

Seems like every couple years I pass up far nicer bucks than the one I get---but it is always great to get out. You got a good buck and I bet you ended up having a good time doing it. That is always the goal anyway, right?

Nice buck, I take it thats a firing center buck right, a buddy of mine shot a 4pt out there. about 18-20 inches wide. He to was sick of the fog.

Was that on the firing center? What is the colorful thing the deer is sitting on?? THat is still a pretty good buck for this area. Congrats.

Yakima is the "Palm Springs" of Washington!!! Yakima is located in S Central Washington State. The firing center permit area is located east and north of the main city of Yakima. I think that is about right. Others may have better directions.

I did have a great time hunting this permit hunt. On Saturday the fog was gone, but the wind was wicked. I took a long walk through the draws and canyons of the northern part of the range. I saw little groups of does and fawns, but the bucks were not seen. It was a good day because I didn't see any other hunters either. Sunday, I went to the south part of the range because I wanted to see more deer. The south part seems to have more deer, maybe the feed and water is better. I climbed up into the hills and walked through the draws. Another good day with no wind and no other hunters. There is a road at the top of the range of hills, but no one was driving it this morning. Every draw I entered had its share of deer. The bucks were there, but just fork-horns and a spike. I finally found my buck and watched him walk out of the draw into the next one. I found him later in the next draw and got a shot at about 100 yds. I dragged him across the icy grass to an unimproved road and used my Carry-all Buddy game cart to get him the rest of the way.
I would really like to thank who ever they are for allowing this hunt to take place on a military installation. I think their system works.

Good shootin'. Thats a very respectable buck, I'm glad you were able to fill your tag. The fog has been really nasty. My normal photography jaunts were pretty much shut down this year due to it. It is pretty frustrating. Thanks for the pics.

Nice buck, curious -how many years did you apply before being drawn? I'm going on 5 years next draw.
