scoring my buck

I was not able to find a satisfactory answer on the web anywhere, should have asked here first. When measuring the G-2 point, the next one after the brow tine. Does it measure from the main beam, or from where it branches at the beginning of the G-3? Any one know of a good web site with pictures about scoring your buck? Thanks.
