Vernon Buck

This is an old neighbor of mine... and his 30 1/2" 4-pt that came off the Vernon unit this year. Rumor has it that he was a bit angry as he missed the bigger buck, said to be 33-34", and that he had to settle for this. Poor guy... I didn't talk to him directly, but the pictures are posted at Wal-Mart in Tooele and I figure that makes 'em fair game.

Anyone watch channel 4 tonight?? The report about poaching.

This buck sure looks like the buck they showed that was reported as poached and the guy was busted!

Said the guy was from Copperton - is this him? If not - the deer was scary similar!

Couldn't find anything about a poacher on the channel 4 website... but this guy is from Tooele and hunts with some guys I know fairly well. And I think it would be safe for me to assume it was all on the up and up.

And FYI... it was taken on the muzzleloader hunt. Found his name on the Utah DWR website... so I can confirm he had the tag.

Poaching, come on not on the Vernon unit, none of these home town boys that live in vernon or the area would ever take a spotlight out and shoot a buck. Unfortunately, growing up in that area and working on a ranch for a summer in Vernon and hearing the stories it happens. Poaching is certainly something that occurs on this unit. But you shouldn't point fingers at this guy unless you truly have some proof.

T

Tooele.....why the hypocrisy? Lets talk about the "proof" that you have that the "hometown boys" in Vernon use spotlights to poach. You claim you should not point fingers unless you have proof....so lets see the proof big guy. I'm disappointed that your lack of intelligence allows you to undeservingly slander peoples names. I happen to be a "hometown boy" from Vernon and I have a great deal of respect for hunting and the law. You may want to think twice before you start dragging peoples names through the dirt.

I like the lack of intelligence comment. Very impressive "GONAD". Let me guess your last name must be ???. As far as intelligence goes, providing proof?? What do you want photos, video, for me to say that I was playing out in the fields and saw them, They showed me the horns and told me the story. What do you want? You read the post nowhere did I say all the hometown boys in Vernon poach, but certainly and if you are really a "hometown boy" then you know of 1-2 families that have, I don't know if they do now, but I did look into it and they still live there. I do not and it has been quite a while since I have been there. Now here is a question for you? Would you consider it poaching if you have a land owner permit and 4 or 5 guys hunt on private property from your family to harvest that deer, now that is a whole other discussion isn't it. Come on "Gonad" Tooele county can't even get fluoride in there water talk about a lack of general intelligence.

T

Hey "Gonad" if no poaching was involved, then why don't you make your "2nd" post one that tells the guy that he got a nice buck. Cause that it is.

T

I'm with Tooele on this. Sorry Gonad and I am a local and smarter than u or at leest not in denile

Vernonboy

Ouch... well, being from Tooele... I'm going to have to take offense to the post about the Fluoride. Lack of intelligence? If someone else wants fluoride in their water, that's their business... but I don't need anyone forcing me to drink something I don't want. The people have spoken...

And let me re-state... the guy that shot this buck is not a poacher. Doesn't live in Vernon, doesn't live in Copperton and hopefully this can return to a somewhat normal "good job" post.

Please take the poaching/Vernon-Tooele bashing conversation elsewhere.

Oughta be the last time he puts his picture up at Walmart. Just blows my mind why people can't just say 'nice buck' and move on.....(((shakin' my head)))

It is a great buck and I congratulate the hunter on a fine trophy. I just don't think it is fair to generalize "home town boys that live in Vernon or the area" as poachers. That's my opinion....agree or disagree....I don't care. Poaching is a pathetic act that unfortunately does happen...I am not blind to that. Being from the area...I take offense to the generalized comment.

I apologize for making it appear generalized as it was not my intent. The vast majority of the Vernon Home town boys are great people and would never dream of poaching. He shot a great buck and let's leave it at that.

T

LMAO!!!! Looks like Lucas is just seeing the ol' "what goes around comes around" ring true. :) :) Hey Lucas, was this buck taken on Private or Public, General Season or Limited Entry? ;)

I think the buck is awsome, I also live in Vernon and say good job on a great deer. Tooele I would love to know just who the !!!! you are. I have lived here for many moons and I know of one rumor that states a couple 15 year olds took a huge ( 8 inch) spike by two point with a spotlight about 17 years ago. As far as all the rest B.S. Come on man why the slander, you have nothing to prove, your the best hunter maybe even a hunting god, so why do you trample us poor humble hicks so badly, I mean gosh I might cry. Oh sorry,I forgot the original post was of a picture of a way happy dude with a sweet buck.....Merry freakin Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah--Nice buck.

Don't worry about the flouride, there's worse things to worry about being in yer water..

Go on, y'all---hugs for everyone! Ahhhhh! Don't we ALL feel better?!

All I can say is there are a hell uv a lot of folks claiming to be from vernon around here. There aren't that many people that have the internet out here. Now as far as poaching it happens everywhere its a fact of life. All you folks claiming to be from vernon don't get so damned pissed about a few comments, your actin like someone stole your first born and pissed on em. Let me tell you I think its down right funny and though poaching happens it ain't a problem out here so why don't you just drop the subject let the DWR deal with the poachers like they always have. If someone takes a deer "poachin" for meat then so be it and in my opinion I hope it helps em out and I hope everyone just leaves them the hell alone.

A "true" Vernonite

BC, I noticed the exact same thing. Hard to believe he cant see the irony in this one.

Congrats to the lucky hunter, thats a good looking deer!

Lucas,
Do you not recall ripping into a well respected MM member earlier this fall because he killed a big buck and you just couldn't show him any respect because it was taken on Private Land? Instead you showed much DISRESPECT, not much different than they way these LOSERS have Ripped this Buck in your Thread. Do you see the connection now? What Goes Around Comes Around. IMO, you are no different than these guys.

So that I may please set the record straight, Once again the people from Vernon are great people. They are not poachers. My original post was insensitive and unthoughtful. If I realized an offhanded comment not even related to the Deer shot in this post would have set so many tempers aflare I certainly would have never dreamed of making it. I don't see in the post where it implicates the majority of Vernonites. I hope that all who have been offended will forgive me and they will sleep better at night knowing that I was so insensitive. No I'm not a democratic and I'm trying to work on my political correctness. As for BCBOY yes I got the irony, not bad, I've always been partial to Canadians that's why I married one.

As far as Fluoride, I think Ill pursue that in a different post. I figure this will fire folks up a bit eh.

Merry xmas.

Toole,
Don't take the term LOSERS too personally okay? :) It just seems this whole site has gone into the toliet especially the last year here because guys seem to feel they can Rip everyone a new one every time a big buck is posted. To tell ya the truth, REALTREE is kickin' some serious ass on MM as a better site right now. I see a ton of hard-core muley nuts aren't posting here anymore. Why, because of threads like this one. It's sad to see as I really miss talking about MONSTER MULEYS.

BCBOY,

No worries didn't know you were referring to me as a LOSER, if you were so be it. I've always been impressed with your work BC and will certainly be hunting with the family up in BC in the near future in some capacity. I'll have to check out the Realtree site. But you know I'm originally from the area thus the alias Tooele, and apparently I got the boys all worked up, in all honesty when I originally commented I didn't even think twice of it as being a slam on the people from the area. Oh the power of the Pen. Maybe the holes getting deeper I don't know, but I've been on the site for 3 plus years now. In the beginning I sat silently in the background and started posting more often with time. I've met some great people on the site, have aided multiple hunters to some nice bucks and have been thanked profusely and have certainly benefited from others. I believe you are right though it has gone down hill and to be attacked for having some knowledge of past poaching, I believe I will probably return to the background and probably retire the tooele alias but then again maybe not time will tell? Good luck and merry cristmas

T

Nice buck!! COngrats to the hunter!!

SEE guys, its not that hard to say!! :)

BC BOY,

RealTight better that MM.....c'mon, say it aint so. :)

SCOTT

See... that's the irony of your connection... that there isn't one. No one ripped on this buck, this all started because somebody posted a comment about a poacher that had nothing to do with this buck. As were the rest of the comments, totally unrelated.

Me asking a MM member if their buck was shot on private property is hardly a disrespect. It's a question... I was curious. I never made any comment about my opinion on private land trophies until you and your 'buddy' started bashing me. I'm not alone in feeling differently about these things than you two, it's an opinion, nothing more. If I feel like I need to share mine... so be it, it's never stopped you guys.

And I think I'll even spare my post about some TX bucks... I think I already know the answer.

Tuff,
That was tongue and cheek, but you know they certainly have much cleaner site where guys don't get slammed when they post up a picture of a big buck.

Lucas,
Wonder how you'll feel the day you actually get a Big 'Un on the ground and you come on here and someone accusses you of Poaching it, or someone accusses you of doing something unethical, or someone takes your good thread and hijackes it to debate the issue of private over public, general over limited. You make a choice when you post. You can be polite and civil or else you can be rude and disrespectful. Choose the latter and you bring this site down big time. If you ain't got something nice to say, Shut Up. Because many are tired of hearing the Whinning! :) :)

Well... I guess I'll stop posting when you do. What part of that can't you see... how is it ok for you and you alone? Opinions should be viewed by all as good things... whether you agree or not. When it comes down to it, you know I would stand by anyone on this site (even you) if some PETA or other anti-hunting orginization came knocking. But for me to agree with everyone on here is crazy to think or believe. And I still... as previously posted time and again... never bashed anyones deer. The Houston's had enough common sense to see it, why not you? With that, I guess I'll wish everyone a Merry X-mas... even if you were lucky enough to hunt some privately guided, limited entry, auction tag, sportsmans tag, etc. and shot some huge pig! Congratulations...

Lucas,
In all the years of being here, I've never once posted something bad about someone else's animals. I think you would see I am one to normally send out my congrats. It's not that hard you know. Suck up some of that pride of yours, eat some crow and say, "Nice Buck, Congrats."
