We all get these emails about 4 times per fall: "My buddy's, sister's,stepchild's, Sunday school teacher shot this monster buck in (insert your state's name)".

This one recently showed up as a mule deer taken in 2006 here in South Dakota. Has anyone else seen this deer's pic?

Excuse the terrible photo -- I don't know who would even think of taking a picture like this.

Ok, I'll go on the record as saying it looks fake. Very strange color, antler configuration and picture angle.
Where did you come accross this picture?
Mike

I saw it for the first time today. It came from a friend, who got it from a friend, etc..... Supposedly it was shot in central South Dakota.

Both I and the guy I got it from were suspicious. I figure someone here may have seen it before - in one form or another.

If it is legit, it is a hell of a buck.

".........taken in 2006 in South Dakota...."??? That's the first thing that doesn't sound right. :)

The pic is new but the joke is old. This buck showed up last fall. Said it came from Alberta. Which was true. It was custom built by some guy there. There was a pic with a guy wearing a funny Ausie hat sitting with the cape and antlers. The cape was from another buck. The pic spread like wildfire as the New World record. The guy did it just as a joke. Guess he has a World Record Whitetail he custom made too. If you look in the archives of Trophy Watch on the B&C site you'll see the story.

Heres the pic from last year.

BCBOY, you are right! That is the same buck, we're just missing the guy in the funny hat. When I first looked at the buck there was something familiar about him. Good eye!
Thanks, Mike

Sorry BCBOY, I guess I didn't scroll down far enough to see you had already posted the old picture.

I suspected as much. Thanks for digging that pic up! How did we ever dispell all these "world record" myths before Monstermuleys and Bowsite came along?
