Does any one have any info regarding bringing antlers and cape into the country from Mexico? I will be flying into Phoenix from Hermosillo and want to avoid any problems. I understand that the antlers won't be a problem but the cape could be an issue.

The cape needs to be either completely frozen or salted. It cannot be wet. There should also be no meat whatsoever on the skull cap, make sure that it is cleaned up and left out to dry, we actually salt the skull caps as well and leave them upside down in a tree next to the house to ensure proper drying. Your outfitter should have all of the proper exportation papers for you.

Thanks, are you able to bring the cape and antlers on the plane as checked baggage or did you have to have it shipped to a USDA approved taxidermist?

You can take it on the plane with you as checked baggage. Just make sure its not a wet cape or is completely frozen and you will be fine. Also make sure that your outfitter has provided you with the proper paperwork.

Also if you happen to pick up any sheds get a permit from the Mexican game and fish, they will be at airport. You can't bring them in the U.S. without permit. had some WHOPPER'S
