AWESOME BUCK!

That's a great Texas muley. What county was that in? Looks pretty rough - SW TX?

We took 6 others that scored better than hers this year, but she got the widest (33 1/2"). She took an old gnarly toad two years ago - I'll try to get Drummond to post pics of that one. And yes, they are both from Texas.

I would guess that's somewhere in the southern panhandle region. Just a guess, though. Great buck. Looks just like the ones I didn't see this year ;-).

Great buck. We took a 28 inch buck in Texas this year that had 6 and 1/2 inch bases. He was really old - missing a couple of teeth and blind in his left eye. There are some real solid mule deer in Texas and it seems to be getting better.

Here is the next pic Ted asked me to post. There are a lot of folks on this site that have consistently killed big deer but I dont know if anybody has killed better deer than Ted over the last 7 or 8 years. He and his wife hunt their tails off and it has paid off.

Congrats Ted and Shayla

The proof is in the pics, but Texas just doesn't come to mind when I think of a trophy muley state.

Hey 264magnum, I'll get drummond to post some more of our pics from the last few years and our better one's from this year. Most Texas muleys won't stack up, but there are certain areas where they get the right groceries that grows 'em as big as anywhere. We really will be seeing the true potential of these areas in the next couple of years if the rains continue. From 1997-2003 we averaged 6" rainfall/year and we still knocked down several >200" deer. With over 20" rain each of the last two years the deer are really putting on some mass - even though they lived the first 4-5 years in extreme drought. If the rains continue, these deer with 3-4 years of good rainfall will really open some eyes. If we can just keep the outfitters and greedy landowners from taking too many young bucks we should take some real toads over the next few years (>220"). I know that sounds a little high (220") but we (myself and 2 friends) have taken a 208,208,208,205,199,198,197,197,190,187,185,182, etc...... and most of these were taken in the very droughty years - so the best should be yet to come.
