This bull was killed in the Yukon on 9-25. Elk were put in there in 1958 from Yellowstone Park. This was the first year they have been hunted. They drew for 15 permits.
The hunter is Al Klassen.
He's been a sheep guide in the Yukon and Northwest Territories and has personally guided over 100 Dall Ram kills.
Preliminary gross score... 451 5/8

that is a pig. my guess is it had to come from the selway bitterroot:)

if not than the monroe.........

but i have no doubt it is a free ranging bull that just slipped through the yrs of hunters to grow some huge antlers. it happens all the time j/k

Holy crap that Bull is a Toad, let's hear the story.....
OMB

There's room for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potato's and gravy.

Ohh.... Now we all know where Spidey was transported from. Is that Doyle in the background loading that other bull into that trailer??? :)

Dutton pisscutter! I threw rocks at that thing everyday of my hunt. Finally chased him to the selway on my wheeler so he'd quit coming to every freakin call I threw! stupid raghorns, gotta hate em! lol

silly liberals, paychecks are for workers!

I guarantee that bull is a legitimate fair chase kill...he was killed by a good friend of mine in the Yukon on 9-25-09.

Why is it that when someone brings in an outstanding animal there is always negative rumors started about it?

Oh come on! I'm just kiddin around :) Congrats to your buddy.

So a Yellowstone bull with 320-350 genes turns into a 450+ monster just from eating blue berries in the Yukon??? I need to start planting some dang blue berries around here!!!

If they were transplanted in 1958 and no hunts for 51 years. Yeah I suspect they can grow a few big bulls.

That's kinda of what any hunter dreams of. Getting to hunt an area where no game has been harvested in their lifetime.

Here is some Yellowstone genetics, via the Missouri Breaks...this 6X6 ended up scoring in the 390s. Habitat and age will trump a lot of other factors on how big an elk can get.

I dont know about that...everytime I've been up there hunting sheep, blueberries only gave me the s%^&$!......grin!

Unbelievable bull!! And very refreshing not to see a crowd of guides and spotters in every pic. Probably the greatest trophy bull I have seen anywhere - to heck with the Spider.

My hunting spot is so secret, not even the elk have found it yet.

Harry,
Thanks for the post. Heard em bugle atop the Peaks yesterday morning, but I doubt the source was as big as this bull. Congrats to Al the hunter.

That thing is just flat HUGE! I cannot believe it scores less than the Spider Bull. It looks twice the size.

HOLY SMOKES!!! your serious?

i was the first "jokingly" negative post. in no way did it cross my mind it wasn't a fenced bull.
i'll take your word for it. that is unreal! congrats to the lucky hunter.

deffinatly the biggest free range bull i've ever seen.
thanks for posting!!

Thanks for the photo go to New member psinclair.
He is friends with the hunter.
He posted it on another site and with permission I brought it over here to MM.
Psinclair is something else, few on words, big on results.
REAL BIG.
A welcome addition to MM.
Thank you Pat!

Here's some Yellowstone genetics via the Missouri Breaks. Sorry for the lousy field pic as I didnt have a crew of scouts and vidiographers along that day...I hunted this bull solo...also found both of his sheds from the year before. With a 40" IS they grossed 345. He grew 50" total in one year. Had him scored but chose not to enter him. Bad rumors about how it was really done have always pi%#!@ me off. Maybe I should grow thicker skin but thats just the way I am.

Got another breaks bull permit again this year....cant wait to get back out there again.

Klassen quit smoking years ago. He's coming out here to hunt mule deer with me next fall...he's the best outdoorsman I've ever known.

I hold up another good Montana bull...this one is 372...49" IS.

It's written up in Boone& Crockett's "Fair Chase" magazine a few issues back.

lace up your boots psinclair, Al could walk farther and pack more than anyone in the n.w.t when he was smoking, he is also one of the best people i have ever had the pleasure of meeting, hope you guys get a monster buck.

I've known Al for 20+ years...we both guided for South Nahanni Outfitters back in the day. When Woodward sold out he went to work for Arctic Red. He's officially retired from sheep guiding but still manages to kill an oversized ram for himself every year in the Yukon....we have many miles together in the mountains.

Where did you guys meet?

we met at AR in base camp in 94 I did not hunt with him but we spent some time in camp together with pat, pete, leo, tavis etc. one he!! of a good crew.

Klassen and I on the banks of the South Nahanni River, N.W.T. back in 1991....most grizzly bears I've ever seen in one place. We counted 8 mature boars from one location working berries on the side of the mountain across the river.

When I saw Harry and big, I new I had to click. What an awesome bull. Congrats to the hunter.
