I'd like to take a road trip with my boys to the Arizona strip & see the Grand Canyon this weekend (Toroweap) Entering Arizona from Colorado City/pligville. I'll be taking my huntin rig & my coyote gun.
My questions;
Are the roads open this time of year ?
Any recent travels by anyone here ?
What am I in for ?

The main highway past Jacob's Lake, 64 I think, to the north rim is closed. If it isn't, then everything (businesses) beyond Jacob's Lake is closed until May 15. Good Luck. You will probably need to go around to the South Rim via US 89.

THEY FROWN ON PACKING HIGH POWERED RIFLES DURING THIS TIME OF YEAR!!!

B_F_E,

Send me a pm with your number. I was hunting 13A this year and dropped a 190 class buck. I was just up there three weeks ago to pick up my brand new 270 that I won from the Big buck contest.

Also, I would strongly reconsider bringing a high powered rifle up there. There have been some poaching stories going and with the RUT going on, I would reconsider taking a rifle.

Anyways, I look forward to your PM.

Are there monster bucks everywhere? Never been down there, just hear stories. I'd love to see some pictures too.

You might get some weather this weekend and like they said, the road south from Jacob lake is closed. The 22 on the west side is open along with other roads leading from it. My advice is to bring your rifle and shoot every coyote you see. It's perfectly legal as long as you're not in the park. Plenty of yotes out on the winter range. Have fun with your boys. They will love it.

Go for it. Just remember to take two spares,chains,extra fuel,food,and clothing for an extended stay. You can go anywhere if you travel on the frost. Take your rifle and shoot every coyote. Having a high powered rifle does not make you a poacher it means you are a patriotic American. The clay holes road is never closed. How could anyone confuse that road with hwy.67? Might as well make a loop of it and come back by way of the hack canyon road or past trumbull and in on the main street road.

With rain forecasted you better come with all the above and winch too, Bring the gun and kill a few dogs just make sure you have the right license for furbears and such.

Sorry for not responding, I was on route, here are some photo's from the trip.
