Needless to say I didn't sleep last night. I put in as a group with a friend of mine for the late rifle Dutton hunt. Well, like I read in one of Stinkys posts.."these are hard economic times". My friend has been doing what has to be done with part time gigs since January 2009 and last night I found out he landed a job that will take care of his wife and his little girl. Family comes first. He can't make the hunt. DWR says if I keep my tag he loses all his bonus points. I won't do that to you my friend. Good luck to the two lucky guys going to Dutton.....

You're not giving them "2 Lucky Hunters" very much notice?
Better think it over.
Hunting Big Stinky's ain't gonna be better in the future.
Guess you gotta do what ya gotta do but you could of at least drawed a S.J. tag & passed that down!

we are YoungCountry, we like all kinds
of music and people, 'cause we do draw some lines'
no our hair is not orange,we don't wear chains and spikes
but we know how to have fun come Saturday night

I am sure if the "other" hunters decide to take the tag, they will be more than happy to go. They are not required to take the tag if they do not want it.

I think you made the right choice. Family and friends are more
important than the hunt. Sounds like you have a lot of points, I am sure you will do fine next year.

You made the right and only choice.
The guys who get a call will be thrilled, and you still have the points for another day.

That there is a quality hunting partner!!! You'd be welcome in my camp any time :)

Cheers,
Pete

Thanks guys I appreciate your comments. Tags are in and two people will be happy when they call....

Just an FYI LE/OIL tags have to be turned in 30 days before the hunt starts. So we are very grateful all this came to the surface yesterday because today was the deadline. My hunting partner is going to reimburse me $280.00 and we will try again next year.

I was the only one with 14 points who put in for this hunt.

If a fellow MM user gets one of these tags please keep us up to date on how it went.:)

too bad there ain't more people in the world like you!!!! You must be a true friend!.....hard to find these days!

Kudos to you...
It is tough turning one of those tags back in... I had to turn my dad in laws late Monroe in last year, and then his Early Fishlake this year. It is not something I enjoyed!
I was hoping someone on here got my dad in laws Fishlake tag and would report, but nothing as of yet...
Good luck next year!!!

I got the call in 2000 on an archery deer tag. It was a week before the hunt started and it was like Christmas morning! Thanks for making someones year! Hope you draw next year and kill a new state record. You sure deserve it in my book! Way too go! Congrats on your friend getting a job also. With the economy like it is, ya can't get picky and feel blessed to be working. I'm a total stranger, but I sure am proud of ya!

They could call me the night before and I would still take the tag!! Some fool is loving life today. You did a great thing for your buddy, losing all his points could ensure he never gets the chance again.

Wow, you're a good man! That must be the worst rule the dwr has come up with yet!

I am crossing my fingers. I did not draw a late Dutton Tag. Hopefully I will be the lucky one who gets the call.

That is great of you. What goes around comes around - you'll be the receipent of a kind act like what you're doing for your friend.

My son got the call last year for an LE muzzy elk tag on the Paunsagant and he didn't come back to earth for about 3 weeks, I am sure whom ever get's the call on these tags will do the same.

There's room for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potato's and gravy.

You made a good decision and hope that it works out for two other hunters this season and you both will have another chance later that would or could be easier for both of you.

Good luck to the two "new" choices that get a phone call.
