Over the Counter Tags?

Why is there a need for them? To me, it states that the DOW wants money and really doesn't care about the game animal. If so, then the area would be a draw area and they would manage the population accordinally. Should we omit over the counter tags and start managing our herds better?

I have no problem with over the counter tags. A lot of time and money goes into studying game animals and I believe most F&G depts. do their best to manage the herds accordingly. The problem comes in when politicians and special interest groups get involved. I believe the biology should be left to the biologists. As long as the herds can sustain or increase themselves, even with otc tags, then that just makes for more hunting opportunities for more people. I think it would be a drag to live in a state where even residents have to draw a tag just to hunt a general season. But if demand exceeds supply, so be it.
