ANYONE HUNTED ARCHERY ELK AROUND THIS AREA OF TINCUP, MY COUSIN
IS WORKING IN THE AREA AND SAID HE HAD SAW ALOT OF ELK THAT HAD BEEN TAKEN DURING ARCHERY SEASON???

I've been hunting in Taylor Park for about 15 years. There are a fair number of elk in the area, but finding them can be tough. It's big country and the elk have lots of places to hide. You've got to get away from the roads/trails, the place is crawling with ATVs. Most bulls you see are raghorns. This unit is OTC and gets hit hard during the rifle seasons. I hunted the muzzle loader season a few weeks ago, had a few close calls but the elk were not very vocal and calling was ineffective.

Next year the Gunnison units will go to draw only for archery and muzzle loader. This means no more state-wide tags, you have to put in for a specific unit.
