I hunted in the general area, up some of the greys river drainages. There were decent bucks. A lot of locals around Afton. I doubt anyone will give you any specific information though. They aren't that kind around here. I would recommend steering your ship into the Wyoming range.

My father, brother, and I hunted this region the first open week of the season. Only saw one doe with 2 yearlings and a small forkhorn. Saw elk, bears and coyotes, but no other Mule deer. We used an outfitter for a drop camp and they guided another group of hunters that same week, and they only saw one that week. Heard from the outfitter later in the year and they said according to ... 1/2 the deer in the county left due to exploratory drilling in that area.??? (This is not verified, just what we were told.)
Not trying to discourage you, but may be worth checking into before you apply.
Looked like great country, but...

Swamp

If you hunted this area under the title of a guide service for a full week and only saw a fork horn and a couple of does I'll make it up to you and sale you some land. I have some property down here in Arizona with an ocean front view, reasonably priced. Let me know if we can make a deal.

Region G is great area. Don?t listen the other posts, as they most likley don't want you affecting there drawing odds

My apologies fella's. It was not Region G we were hunting, it was Region H. The area we were hunting backed up to Region G.
The rest of my post is true however (as far as I know). Nothing to benefit by keeping others from applying for this area as I'm from Alabama and can't make the trip very often.

Swamp

I know what Swamp is saying. The last time I hunted H, 2 years ago, I saw 2 small 4 points and 3 yearling bucks in 4 days, after we packed in to an area we are familiar with. There were some guys there from Alaska on a Guided Drop hunt. They had seen NO bucks and a dozen doe.

The point is that G and H are down quiet a bit. Get yourself a G tag and go for it. The herd is about 50% of objective, still some big deer, but not at all as it was even 4 short years ago.

I have hunted this areas a few times with some excellent success. I hunt a tract of public land between Mike Eastmans and the Queen Mountain ranches. I have taken 4 bucks from here a 30, 33, 28, and a deep forked heavy horned 27 incher. This is an awesome area.

I hunted 10 days around Region G, Smith's Fork, cokeville, Kememmer areas. I saw two nice bucks. Thats it, alot of smaller ones. Alot of the other hunters I talked to had the same experience as me. It is an excellent unit, but there seems to be a lack of decent big, mature bucks. Too many tags issued. So if you're wanted a shot at a big one, you might want to do some more research on other areas from last year. But if you're interested in a 2 1/2 year old buck or smaller. Then you'll get one. Be prepared though for a lot of other hunters and four wheelers everywhere, as well as the possibility of having your freezer empty like mine was. But hey, thats why we go right? For the Experience Not the Kill
Good luck

Go for Region K it has some great bucks taken every year and it isn't all leased out to guides as rumor has it... A couple of big Walk In management area's and some mix and match public-private ground.

The new Region W is somewhat tempting as well.

06 I'm just going to buy a point. This way i will finaly have a chance to draw 101 or 102
