This was a junior hunt here in AZ. The boy in the middle is my youngest son Max-13yrs old. The other two boys are sons of a friend: C.J. on the left Austin on the right. All three are first time big game hunters and man did they do a good job. All one shot kills. Max shot his at 411 yds, C.J. and Austin were right at 175yds. They all practiced shooting alot before the hunt and they all got a lesson in cleaning elk, taking care of the meat. We saw over 100 elk, some real good bulls and we got to hear alot of bugling. Fantastic time had by all............... Thanks, Allen Taylor......

Beautiful !!!

Just finished taking hunter safety with my 10 year old. Hoping by doing it with him I can keep him interested until he can big game hunt with me for real.

Thanks for sharing your pics and story.

Cheers,
Pete

Great work Dad. That's the future of our sport!!!!!!! Awesome Job. I know that was more gratifying then killing a 6 x6 yourself!

actually the bad shot was the neck shot which usually kills most animals. the gut shot was put there on purpose cuz with 250 gr hollow points its a lethal shot which it was.....and 30,000 bucks? i think it was more than that! lol! usually i dont explain myself to guys but since it is a kid.... I was xpecting to see 3 kids with their first bull ever all of which were gonna go over 350. I thot oh great, here w go again. some young hunters making evveryone else feel like crap makin it seem all too easy. i scrolled down with anticipation n saw 3 cows......

i was highly entertained

Stinky, I dont know you so I will just use some common sense here. In AZ it is real hard to draw a tag and for Junior hunters they have cow hunts that are somewhat easier to draw. To keep young hunters interested there needs to be opportunity. In this hunt, if these boys had bull tags, there were 4 bulls over 350 we could have shot. This post could have been "3 boys 3 bulls over 350" but it wasnt. It was about 3 young men who experienced their first elk hunt and performed exceptionally well. They learned about pre-hunt planning, getting comfortable with their rifles, how they shoot. Where to shoot an animal for a quick clean kill, how to gut an elk and get it back to camp. All kinds of learning went on. Personally I get more reward out of helping kids than shooting something for myself........... Thanks, Allen Taylor......

long story short is i was suprised to see a normal hunt for once. seems like people dont post anything unless its a bull pushing book quality. personally i could careless what people kill or where they shoot them at. as long as their hunters n not liberal obama lovers their ok with me. for some reason i found the picture quite comial.
I saw 3 young kids who seemed very honry holding 3 dead cows with 3 very mishievious grins on their faces like "oh someone opened up a can of worms now" I could give a rats @@@ about the animals. those faces just brought back some old memories. Like i said before LOL! I hope u have a lot of spare time on ur hands in the future. u may have created some monsters lol

Allen,

Thanks for your efforts to give your son and friends a most memorable hunting trip. If more parents were like you in teaching their kids to love and respect the outdoors we would have far fewer problems.
I appreciate you saying that you would rather see your son be successful than you. My son was successful on a 340 bull this year and I am very proud of him.

Bura:

Great to see the boys getting it done! Keep feeding your son so he'll be good and ready to shoulder YOUR bull next hunt ...
