Utah General Deer Tag

I am looking to apply for a Utah General Deer Tag this year. I have hunted the Northern region a few times with mixed results. Looking at the charts, the Southern region looks like it is the most popular. Does anyone have any information on any of the zones as to---public land to hunt, too many hunters and numbers of deer. Thanks.

The southern is by far the best unit. I would put in for that one in a heart beat. Very few hunters, lots of deer, and a healthy mixture of public and private land.

If you consider a small town parked in your hunting spot as not crowded than the Southern Unit is for you! I've hunted this unit all of my life and it's not what everybody makes it out to be. If you like 2 points, spike by nothing, or a rare 3 point running by you at mach 3 come on down. The Archery hunt in this unit is CRAZY! With the permits being statewide all of the permits seem to come on down and hunt for the big one. All the while knowing that they can go back up north and hunt the extended archery units. What big one's were hanging out down here were shot up with the big snow two years ago. All I can say is good luck finding that big one.

Try looking into the Central unit (sorry tooele, 2 can play that game)... Just joking. There are nice bucks in all units if you are willing to do the research and spend some time. Good luck.

My favorite Utah regions are Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, and Arizona.

Just kidding. Personally I really don't think one region is a whole lot better than any other-they all pretty much suck as far as the general seaons public land hunts are concerned, but a few big bucks are shot in every region every year.

My pick would be Central......

Good luck! With enough scouting and time in the field hunting you're bound to run across a few decent bucks.

I applied for a general deer tag for the Northern Region. I think I may have gone a little overboard with the tags this year Oh well, maybe ill luck out and get a spike by nothing!

we do Southern when we draw otherwise Southeastern ,,,, we do what we consider just fine (i try and not buy beef) nothing huge except every now and then we get a nice one ,,,, if you go get ready for one or two quad's LOL ,,,
