Did anyone have any success on public ground on Glade Park? We blew a bunch of points this year and had tag soup...Saw some nice bulls, right on the other side of the fence....A tough hunt if hunting on public land. Had deer tags as well, blew them too. Again, all the Deer seemed to be on private property. 80 degree weather did'nt help our case. Just wondering if anyone else had better luck.

It looks like the weather did you guys in, it's a B!tch to lose your points on a hunt that don't pan out, I did the same thing in Ca this year used my points and didn't get to hunt the unit once.

Some of the archery guys did OK and I thought about burning my points up there next year but after some research there is far too much private. Sucks eating tag soup after you burn all your points. What season did you hunt?

We hunted 2nd season. Deer and Elk. We hunted, on the Forest, as well as most of the BLM lands we could get to. I had a buddy hunt 1st either sex Elk, a great hunter, and enjoys the same soup we did. I hear, things used to be better a few years back, the story of my life. A day late and dollar short!

You probally dont want to hear this but you probally should have done a little more research before your hunt and you would have found out about the private land situation.

We were well aware of the situation. We did however do some scouting and found plenty on BLM lands. When the bullets start flying, well you know where they head to.

Been there done that.... Theres just some things you cant learn scouting.

Don't feel too bad, it happens to everyone sooner or later. We just returned from Co 3rd season and had the worst hunt we've ever had as far as seeing animals goes. We scout, hunt hard, and was in one of the top rated areas and still took a beating, as did a lot of people this year.

The good thing is, we were hunting, and it was good to be in the mountains. Sometimes we forget that hunting isn't always about the kill. Enjoy the hunt and your family and friends, they're all that matters when it's all said and done. A big bull or a big buck is a bonus, but it ain't everything!

I've took a beating on 3 out of 3 mule deer hunts this fall in 3 states, but when I start thinking it sucked, I remember the good times I had with my family, and the things I learned that will help me next time.
