LAST EDITED ON Nov-12-09 AT 08:23AM (MST)[p]Check this out. Fifty percent of the people shooting the decoys don't have tags.

And only a $299 fine. Should be 10x's that. I wish our wildlife divisions had the resources to do this kind of thing more often. Hunting would be much better for all of us if we could weed this trash out.

Actually, with the revenue generated from the citations, we could fund a whole poaching sting division of the DWR. It would pay for itself.

In the Shawnee Forest in southern IL. Game Wardens did the same thing but with a huge whitetail.

They did it at night though in a open field and alittle tougher on fines.

If you shined a spotlight or turned your vehicle in the direction of the decoy you were cited for wildlife harressment.

And if you had a loaded weapon in you car in more trouble, even if you did'nt shoot. Not sure what the fines were.

Im sure these things happen more in heavy timbered country where people can hide. Here in Nevada if you fire your gun at an Elk the whole state knows before your done cleaning him. I agree that the fines should be 10x more.
