My late Fishlake bull

I am a Non Res and only had five points so I decided to put in for a late hunt. The odds were still bad but not as bad as the early rifle odds. I was not expecting to draw but I got lucky and drew.

I decided to hunt with High top outfitters. I did not know the area so I thought they would be a big help and they were great. I got to Richfield about noon on the 6th. Called Antlerrick on the phone but he was still in Salt lake city so I missed seeing him before the hut started ( sorry about that ). I got settled in and we went over to the unit to do a little spotting. That night we looked over about 30-35 bulls. We seen Spikes, rag horn bulls, a lot of broken bulls and a couple pretty good bulls to try for in the morning.

There were two bulls I liked and wanted to shoot in the morning if we found them. One was a big 6X6 that was broken on one side right after his fourth point on his left side and the other one was a real long main beam bull that was pretty narrow.

Here is a bad picture of the broken bull i liked. He id the bull in the middle. We were about a mile away.

We were the first ones on the mountain in the morning and got into perfect position. Some other hunters came up from below and the bulls ran up the hill right into a little pocket. There was 14 bulls in the little group. A couple nice 6x6 bulls but this bull looked pretty good to me. He was heavy and real wide. I decided to shot him. He was 290 yards out and the .300 ultra mag with 180 grain Accubonds worked wonders.

Everyone says that the Fishlake does not have as big a bulls as the other units but I am real happy with my bull and it was fun just to see the amount of bulls out there. Even all the busted up bulls. The guys from High Top outfitters were great to work with. Thank You. Also a thank you to Antlerrick for all the help. He is a great guy.

Congrats on a nice bull. I'm glad you got into them early and was able to connect. I was looking forward to having lunch with you and was sad to hear to you to head home early..
Those bulls were in a tough spot to kill and some steep country. I'm glad you were succesful and hope your kids are doing well.

It would have been nice having lunch with you. My son had a fever and some other stuff going on. They tested him for the flu ( it was negative ) so he must just have some crud. my daughter now has double ear infections and strep throat. Had to come home and help. The schools around here are freaking out about any sick kids. And send them home for a minimum of two days.

That's a great bull to use up our points on, IMO I like him alot.
