Well I Finally got pics resized. I spent some time on Boulder this summer and fall scouting. I spent hours and hours on google earth and talking to people who have hunted it before. Got down there a few days before the hunt started to find some bulls and found this one.

Watched him Thursday and Friday while also looking for something better. Didn't find one so decided to hunt him. These elk were only feeding for a few minutes in the morning and heading off in the timber. Then we only got about 30 minutes of light in the evening to make a move. Thanks full moon!!!

Saturday morning I was sitting where we had glassed this bull way before light. He was in a spot where lots of people could find him. Got about 10 minutes to make a move on opening morning. He was gone before I could get my gear together. Saturday night he showed up in a different spot and didn't get a chance at him.

Sunday he never showed up at all so I tried to get in close to where we thought he was and I bumped him and 5 other bulls. %$#^%$#!!!! I was pretty bummed. I wondered if we would see him again. We checked out a ridge where they headed to set upa evening hunt. Had about a 400 yard shot to where we thought they might come out so me and my big bro set up. The rest of the crew went low to glass the ridges. After about 20 minutes, MY BROTHER-IN-LAW called and said he's out on a lower ridge and the only shot would be from the bottom. We hauled off the top and got into position. we were in the open and he was broadside watching us. The rangefinder read 674 yards! I checked the ballistic chart on my stock. 3 shots and missed! He went into the timber and I was bummed out. I figured at least I had my chance. A few minutes later he walks right back out. One more shot and down he goes. I hit him in the back leg and he ran down in a canyon right in front of us. He was thrashing and busting up stuff. pretty soon he was in the flat right in front of us and a few more quick shots and he was down. Gutted him and backed the truck right up to him. pulled the bike ramps out and drug him in whole! Thanks to my crew of good eyes and good help. Without them this would have been a hard hunt. Memories will last forever!

Elk in the truck heading for camp in the lovely Metropolis of Bicknell.

That scope bite sure adds to the reason you missed those first shots. Glad you stuck with him until he was down.

Nice Bull.

Sounds to me like somebody had a little bit of bull fever. :)

Did your "crew" give you a hard time? I hope so. That's the sign of a good crew.

Congratulations on the bull.

Looks like you guys had a great time lots of happy faces and a nice bull, the picture of you all together and you with the nice cut on your face needs to go in a frame next to your bull on the wall that picture says a thousand words!

Good job nice bull, the late hunts sure are fun and not as stressful for some reason.

Plenty of hard times were passed out and still are, but all in love. There's alot of love when we go huntin'.

Sweet story and pictures, my XCR has done the same thing to me a time or too. Got to love the XCR.

Hey Jake, he scores right at 350. 50 1/2" inside spread, Main beams were 53+ and 54+.

my dad did the same thing to his eye brow when I was 9 while shooting at a buck! Everyone at camped laughed...I was upset cause I thought he was hurt, really hurt!

Great bull!

No doctors. My 5 year old says stitches are for wusses! It sealed up good after getting cleaned up. If stitches would have been required they would have cost more than a good muzzle break though. (that's what I've been telling my sweet wife!)
