Nevada Bull.......

Scott was hunting up by Montello somewhere.

Scott finally got his bull! It is a very nice 6 x 6 that makes books! It is a 385 gross with 53" beams, a 50" spread, 20" brow tines and 23" royal. It weighs in over 1,000 pounds! Scott is GLOWING...in a manly-guybeeninthewildernessforaweek-kind of way. He was barely able to fit it in the back of the Dodge. Had to kind of fold it in. Scott's buddy Henry took the 4-wheelers in his truck and Scott took the Elk and the camper with his.

Oh, and YES, we DEFINITELY plan to mount it!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-09 AT 06:19PM (MST)[p]Congrats on a dandy bull. I must say that this bull is way beyond shooter class to me but hides its score very well. I'd not have guessed 380"s or even 360's but i'm no expert and generally leave off scoring elk for those with more experience.

A Dandy bull, it's always fun to have figure out what you have to do to get everything back home went you come to a hunt packed full. LOL

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

Joey,
When I first saw the email and it saying that this Bull was 385" and I reduced the same of the picture, I don't see that score there either. But then I am not a OM so can only go by what the email said and leave it at that till proven.

Kilo, As i said, i'm no expert at judging and elk would be my weakest link if i tried to believe that i was.

In my statement above i was careful not to say, that i didn't think this bull score as stated. He very well may! If he does though, to me, he hides his score well...and again, Congrats to the hunter, it's a heck of a bull!! :)

LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-09 AT 09:19PM (MST)[p]Sorry this bull is not 385 I will say it. But a nice bull. Maybe it was supposed to say 335????

Who shives a git what he scores, he is one hell of a nice bull! Bigger than most hunters will ever kill in their lifetimes.

I'll say this, he is definitely bigger than any bull we saw when I was helping a buddy with a tag in that unit group a couple years ago.

Congratulations!

It's a great bull!

Anytime you post a score it gives people the right to question it. If you're offended if someone says it's not what you say it is then don't post the score. That bull is not 1,000 pounds and it is closer to 310 than 385. Congrats to the hunter.

Sweet bull, but 385"? and over 1000lbs, after rutting all fall? I don't see either one.

Congratulations to the hunter its an awesome bull no matter the score. I dont know why anybody posts the score on here, they just end up getting tore up by every body. Nobody can tell what that bull scores until they see it in person.

Sweet bull and he will score some great brownie points with the family while everybodies sitting around the dinner table chowing down on steaks. fatrooster.

Why would you post something like that. It's rude. Some guys like to keep some things secret so you should respect that.

How Rude ? Not really... he never confirmed where the Bull was taken... Are you trying to tell me that he shouldn't have said it was killed in Nevada cause its a Secret that Bulls are in Nevada... Or are you trying to tell me that he shouldn't have mentioned Montello... cause its a secret that Montello is in Nevada... or are you trying to tell me that I shouldn't have mentioned Deans Pass... cause those BLM maps are secret information ? Or are you trying to tell this little old Lady that she is right and men like to keep secrets just like little old ladies ? There are only two decent Units in that Corner of the State and only one has Burned.... I'm guessing so get a life Schmalts... your worse than some old Relief Society Lady.

Everyone on this board wants to know EXACTLY where guys and gals Down their Bulls... Everyone asks what unit the bulls were killed and it is their choice if they decide to confirm or keep quiet... Unless your the self appointed keeper of the secret bull places ? So your pissed cause YOU know the Secret and now its NOT ? Not much of a Secret is it ?

Destiny

Yes I'm a pain.

It's rude. If he wanted to tell everyone where he was hunting he would have. In the future the polite thing would be to PM him rather than clue everyone into where he may have hunted. To ask him where he hunted is one thing but to tell everyone where you think he was in the process is just stupid and rude if you are right about his location. I knew nothing of Deans pass and the burnt area, but now I do and If i draw a tag I will look there now.

I think if you put a poll on this site you will see most agree with me.

Smalts,

Not that big of deal to ask where a person killed a Nevada bull. Hell, the guy who killed it won't even be able to apply again until 2020! There really aren't any "secret" places for elk around the Montello area. The burned area in the photos could have come from Black Mtn. As a matter of fact, there are numerous burned areas in the unit.

My wife killed a bull in 2007, just to the south of Black Mtn. She got it out in a sage flat that had burned the year before. Accessed the area from the Moor exit on I-80. I saw elk from the Moor exit, all the way to Murdock Mtn. Once again, not many "secret" places in this unit.

The biggest problem a hunter will find will be all the tag-holder's scouts. I'll bet for every person I talked to that had a tag, I ran into 15 others looking for a bull for their friend.

Smalts, you shouldn't try to convince someone that they're rude by being a male chauvanist ass.

Dwalton, She did not aks where it was killed as much as she told everyone where it was killed. It doesnt matter where it was killed and how easy or hard of a place it is to find out about. It is just not a very polite thing to do on forums. Asking is one thing, but telling everyone else is another, i hope you can see the difference. There are a lot of guys who do not even post pictures because of things like this have happened. They slipped up and posted a picture with some landmark in the back ground and someone spills the beans on where it is. Like I said, A PM is a better way, and then he can choose to ignore it but to blurt out where you think it was killed is just not polite. But then again, I am just and old "Relief Society Lady".

Schmalts.... quit being a dweeb... I never told anyone... I merely asked a couple questions.... you do realize when you end a sentence with this ----> ??? It is not a statement of fact but a question... Right ?

Based on mere odds... the majority of us including this token female... are currently in a waiting period... some of us will be dead before we get a chance to hunt a trophy Bull in Nevada or Utah... It still takes six or seven years to obtain enough points to hunt the Units in Northern Nevada the DIY way.

Destiny

its not that hard to find out at least which area a person has a tag for...the information is all there..just have to look for it.

Nice 300 inch bull elk. Congrats to the hunter. Is the area he got it a trophy area or easy to draw? Great photos?

The burn in area 8 does indeed cover many miles.
Spaz, area 8 is a tough to draw area and has good trophy potential. fatrooster.

Dang, I thought we got off of the "IT'S NOT 385" kick and were on the "YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE GIVEN UP THE SPOT" kick.

My only comment is"Great Bull!!!!" Congrats
