Hey guys, it's about time already for the WY app process. I have a friend that has invited me out to hunt elk with him in 2010 in area 93. I've never hunted with him so I didn't ask too many questions.

Can anyone describe the area/terrain, public vs private, access, etc? It appears that there are few NR tags available, but a near 50% chance of drawing with max pts. There is some wilderness in the N portion which is fine if he's with me, but I don't know that he will accompany me the entire time. Is this area worth using all my pts on? I'll prob never be a max pt holder again if I pull the trigger on this. Thanks for any help.

After the opener of archery season a lot of them run down to the hay fields on the Carney ranch, thats what I have been told by the ranch foreman. I wouldn't apply , unless your friend has some private access or knows a secret spot. Anyway its nice mountain country, 7000 to 10000 ft elevation on average, pines, aspens and rocks, mostly public land.

so your saying all the elk in that unit go down to private ground......all Hmmm

I'm sure not all the elk, but if I were thinking of applying, I would contact the area bioligist, and maybe an outfitter or two and get their opinions.

I saw some great bulls in the unit this year but wasn't hunting elk. Make sure to get more info from your buddy. You have to know where to look to find the bulls. If I had the tag, I'd hunt hard with my bow.
