Just wondering if anyone else has hunted this unit during the muzzleloader hunt and if so...
What is the quality of the deer in the area?
What type of habitat were the deer in? Aspen, sage or very high in the basins?
I'm going to try this unit this year and was wondering what anyone elses experience might've been.
I'm not looking for specific areas or honeyholes, it's more fun to find them on your own.
Thanks for any info,
Kurt

Don't know too much about the unit, but with the amount of press it's been getting...I would add at least one preference point to last years drawing statistics. And with the new points banking and reduced quota with units requiring more than 5 points to draw...You're most likely looking at around 7 points, if not more.

We hunted 1st elk rifle last year in 53/63 just next door. and the deer were still up at the top of the mountains and there was snow on the ground. Go SUPER HIGH for the bigger buck but we did see a bunch of nice 3x3's and a really wide 28"+ 4x4 but he was not tall at all and wouldn't have scored well. There has been alot of talk about unit 54 because of the very nice state-wide tag buck of 04'. The points have gone up so I hope you have a few extra. I'm sitting on 5 and have been thinking about burning a few this year. Jovan
