Buddies Reward

Sometimes life does have its rewards. Yesterday I posted in Nebraska Muley about how my hunting buddy moved a decent muley to me accidentally. His reward came 2 dys later as he was able to take this nice buck. Like most muleys in my area he's only 23 inches wide. I have shot several with the same antler looks I believe its because of the genetics. Both of mine were only 22 inches wide even though 1 scored 171. I apologise for the scenic garage floor I hate doing pictures like this but circumstances called for it. None of our muleys have shed yet although the whiteys are all done. Wish the muleys would get with it as I prefer the areas where are muleys hang out to whitetail river bottoms.

husker....again, thank you....very nice buck..congratulations to your buddy...well deserved, i'm sure...

Nice buck. Congrats to both of you. I see the bucks antlers are really rubbed and polished near the bases. What do you suppose he was rubbing on in the sandhills?

Nice Buck, what part of Nebraska are you hunting?

Nebraska has over the counter tags only, a 9 day season but muzzleloader is 30 days all of December. I think the tag is $200.00 not totally sure on that it might have changed. I hunt Loup West area usually north and west of Broken Bow. Last 10 years a lot more hunting pressure than it used to be. We have infestations of cedar trees since the state no longer burns off from lightning strikes, most of the muleys use them to rub in the fall.

Nice buck, really got some character to him.

Congrats on the nice deer and welcome to the site. I've wanted to head out to Ft Robinson or the Oglala grasslands to hunt muleys for years but always end up going to north central Nebraska and hunting whitetail. I usually have less than 1 week to drive the 2000 miles and hunt so I stick with the family land.

$176 for the tag. $13 for the habitat stamp.

Hunted the Ogalala National Grasslands and took a really nice antelope there 2 years ago. Neat place and big I've seen some monster elk on that place near toadstool park. Probably will never get lucky enough to draw the very limited tags in this area.
