What unit?

I am a utah resident with 5 points going into the draw this year. I was thinking about burning my points on the paunsaguant archery tag or the filmore oak creek late hunt. I would like to start putting in for pronghorn by 2011. My question is out of those two units what would you put in for? I know there two diferent types of hunts and in diferent times of the year. I just want to hunt for a bull without waiting for fifteen more years. Thanks James.

I would try the Pauns tag!

Archery is hard enough on a good unit let alone a bad one. The Paunsaugaunt does hold some good bulls, but they are hard to get near. So many people stir them up all summer and fall. You could have drawn the Fillmore Oak Creek last year with no points, and you have 5. Lift the standard. I would get a tag for (Cache South, South Slope Diamond Mountain, Nebo, or West Desert Deep Creek) if you want to burn your points. Antelope? That is what Wyoming is for, they have more antelope than people. I would go for a better unit. West Desert Deep Creek, could be a good place to think about.

You might get lucky and get the Cache South, Wasatch, Manti, or Dutton. All of which are way better than the Pauns or Fillmore Oak Creek.

I'd go for the South Cache archery tag no questions asked. You are going to have to have lady luck on your side to draw any of the more recognized units like the Dutton.

I'll be back in the Elk pool next year, so I think you should put in for the Oak Creek and get the H3ll out of the way

Don't waste your points on Oak Creek. There's much better options available.
