Hey guys I was wondering if any of you hunt the general muzzy hunt on the South slope of the Uintas, and if so is it more productive than the general archery hunt? (i.e. Do you see more elk? Is there a ton of competition? Access? etc.) I am thinking about trying the muzzleloader elk hunt but know nothing about it and was wondering what your opinion is of it. Any info would be appreciated!

Never hunted the muzzy on the South slope, but I archery it every year. It's a very tough hunt, now imagine hunting the elk after they have been chased by archery, youth rifle, rifle elk, and rifle deer hunters. Then take into account all the Indian ground out there, you will definitely earn an elk if you kill one, or let alone see one!

That hunt is hard because of the weather. Good weather they are still high and very pressured. Bad weather they are on indian land. You might catch a few stragglers but overall a very tough hunt.

NO GUTS, NO STORY!!

The muzzy hunt can be good. In the area I hunt we have killed elk in archery, rifle and muzzy seasons without a problem. If you have a decent spot that you archery hunted try the same spot. It has worked great for me.
