Looking for advise from anyone that has drawn either the North Cache late or early hunt. I have put in for the early hunt but i am thinking about switching to the late hunt because the odds are better. I havnt really been in the area in November, are the elk still up where they are in Sept? Thanks in advance. I have the points to draw the late hunt.

The early hunt is always the best. That said, the late hunt all depends on the weather. Due to the lack of snow this year, the elk are still in relatively high country right now. Early snow will move them out and make it tough on you to hunt. Tough unit, but somebody takes a giant here every year. Good luck.

As mentioned very tough. known many who ate tag soup and was very disappointed in the hunt.

IMHO wouldn't waste the points on the late.

Agreed .. the early is the best for the north cache... South cache has been proding better bulls overall the last several years... might want to consider South Cache.

North Cache is a tricky elk hunt. I know guys that have killed 380-400+ bulls, guys that got skunked, and guys that killed raghorns. I think early is definetely better, but still tough. I put in for it at the expo every year hoping it will be a sleeper, haven't drawn yet. I love the country, the North Cache is beautiful.

Thanks for your input guys. I put in for the early hunt. I love the country up there and i know i can find a decent bull on the early hunt so i went with it. I would put in for a better unit but i am sick of waiting!!!! I live close to the unit so I can scout it more than i could any other unit, along with south cache.

You want the rut in your favor because you can always count on the rut but never the cold weather. Stay with the early.
