Hey guys i finally drew a unit 7 wyoming bull tag. Now the big question is who is the best guide in that area? I am usually a diy but with this tag and the access issues in #7 i am looking at getting an outfitter and hunting for a bull of a lifetime. Thanks for your time any help will be appreciated.

If you have the $$$ Wagonhound is the best bet.... $10,000 for a hunt in 2010. Table Mt. Outfitters is a good outfit as well, Twin Pines Ranch is good bet as well. I would definately try to get an outfitter or at least a trespass fee... word is they are going to 2000+ bull tags... that area is going to be an absolute zoo on public land if that happens...

Jim Freeburn,(triple creek hunts) who I beleive has the twin pine ranch for hunting is a great guy and manages it really well. If I was going with an outfitter he would be my first choice.
A close second would be Elk Mountain Outfitters. I have there grandson in class and seen the bull his dad killed and all the nice bulls still on there. They have a lot of private and take every nice bulls 350 plus every year.

Guess I'm one of the "2000" tags as well. Are you bow hunting or just rifle hunting? Let the homework begin. Maps will get ordered tomorrow. Not sure I can bring myself to hire a guide. I might be able to swing a trespass fee though. We'll have to see how things shape up.

I am planning on rifle hunting. Our harvest runs all of september so that pretty much eliminates bowhunting.

Based on the number of NR type 1 issued, there will be 2000 total type 1 tags... 195 NR tags last year and 1750 Type 1 total... this year, 222 NR Type 1 tags so... 2000 is the number you're looking at... It stinks but that's how it is... There is some good public hunting to be had but you had better know the area pretty well... As wyobowhunt can attest to, some of the most remote stuff in the area just got absolutely hammered during archery and rifle season... I wish they would split the seasons

gil is correct. i drew last year and the pressure in some remote areas was worse than hunting a general opening weekend.

I hunted 2 years ago with Elk Mountain. Great people, great animals. Even doubled up guides for me to multi scout during the hunt at no extra charge.

None of these guys are cheap but I really felt like family there and I met the grandson from the above post. Got him chasing a barnyard cat with a storm front rainbow behind him. Good memories, and I didn't kill an elk(1st week september archery.) I did kill a whitetail though, and never had to pay for a combo hunt.

After talking with elk mtn outfitters again. I think i am going to go on a hunt with them. They were on my list before the draw and after hearing some good things about them on here and talking with them, i think they sounds like a good operation. thanks for the advice.

Excellent! You will have a great hunt and see some nice bulls. Chased a big 8x7 with them that had over 140 animals in the same herd... THATS allota eyes lol.

Tell Mike and Myron that Bill from MI says Hi!

Drew a unit 25/27 type 1 tag myself. Cannot wait to get out there the last part of september/october!
