Hey guys I'm looking for a little input/opinions from everyone on which unit you would prefer for an archery hunt. I just might draw a Manti tag this year, but if I wait a few more years I'll have the Wasatch tag. What are your guys thoughts? Thanks

I posted this very question a couple of weeks ago but didn't get a lot of feedback. I ended up putting in for Wasatch over Manti mainly because it's a little closer to home. I believe that both units are very simialr as far as the quality of bulls you will see. Both have tons of elk. I would say it's 6s' either way. How many points do you have?

I have spent time on both units during archery season. I would hold out for the Wasatch.

Hawkeye

Browning A-Bolt 300 Win Mag
Winchester Apex .50 Cal
Mathews Drenalin LD

I don't know much about either but I would say the Wasatch. I hear there are still some good bulls on that unit. If you draw, let me know. I may know someone that can give you a few places to start looking.

It's always an adventure!!!

Wastach would get my vote
but keep in mind you might have more company on the wasatch than the manti.
But go with the one you know the best.

Wasatch hands down. Even though the herd is similar I've seen better bulls over the years on that side and to me it is cooler country especially in the Willow Creek and 12 MIle Canyon area.

Thanks for the info so far guys. I've been leaning toward the Wasatch myself. I have 5 points now which gives me a 43%+/- chance this year on the Manti, where as I would definitely be 2 years away from any chance on the Wasatch, maybe I'm just getting anxious to chase some big bulls. I do have some decent connections for the Manti, but I am personally more familiar with the Wasatch, certain parts at least.

I drew a Wasatch rifle tag last year and killed a nice bull. Seen alot of elk and had a blast. I hunt the manti more and I believe that both areas are similar. For me it comes down to DO NOT WAIT for two similar tags. Go hunt remember you have to wait 5 years after you draw. You will never kill a bull sitting on your couch. GET THE TAG!!!!!

From what I've seen on both winter ranges I'd much rather have a manti tag in 2011.
