I'm doing an OTC open bull archery tag, this is my first year trying and need help were would be a good area for a decent bull hopefully a 300+ class if they exist, and hiking a long ways is no problem, was also wondering about the extended archery tag and maybe east canyon during the rut for that area, any info would help!

Good luck on your archery choice......watch out or you will get HOOKED! The East Canyon area is outside of the extended boundaries. Finding a 300 class bull on an any bull unit is highly unlikely, but anything is possible. The majority of the area around East Canyon is privately owned with the exception of the East Canyon WMA. During the rut there are very few bulls on this unit. Your best possibility would be the Red Could loop area near Vernal. As for the extended, your options are the Wasatch Front from Draper to Ogden, The Sanpete area and an area near Vernal.

300+ is a very tall order on public land on the archery hunt. I would say any bull that is within shooting range is big enough. but there are a few areas near private ground that you might get lucky and pull one off.

300+ on otc public land in utah very slim! it has happened before but id say if you see any bull elk in your sights even spike, shoot it!seeing how you can also shoot cows on archery shoot any elk you see(not sure on extended archery hunt).... if your lucky and can talk a landowner into hunting on his place you have a chance. but good luck on that! otc elk tags are horrible in utah! except if your one of the lucky landowners that has property in a certain otc unit.
