I saw several bulls on there while hunting with my mom last year on her rifle hunt. Nothing bigger than 320 or so. I would say try somewhere better. Very seldom does anyone get a true monster bull off the Pauns.

It has a chance to carry a big bull simply because not a lot of people go on it, and it is in close vicinity to the Panguitch lake unit, and animals cross all the time... If you only have like 3-4 points it would be worth it... But if you have like 8-10, I would wait for another unit...

If I remember Dillons mom was hunting deer. Elk hunting on the Pauns has declined big time over the last few years. Last year was a little better.. but not much. My son had an archery tag 3 years ago and never put an arrow on his string. My bro had the same tag two years ago and hunted pretty hard for a couple of chances at 275ish bulls. Definetely better Elk units out there but if you want to see wildlife it is a fun place to go. Hope you didnt burn a lot of points.

which hunt did you apply for(archery, muzzy, rifle)?

In 08 there were a couple of 360ish bulls that came off that unit. My Dad and I got a couple bulls off there. Mine was 300ish but Dads scored 362. We ran into another hunter who killed a bull bigger than my Dads bull. That being said, we didn't see lots elk. I did a ton of homework, talked to lots of locals, fish cops etc. We had a great time and it turned out good for us. If you draw let me know. I will be more than happy to give you idea on where to look.
