Here is my bull I shot in area 7 last season. I had missed a 350 bull at 70 yards two days before this guy came in. That morning the bulls and cows were going crazy. I ended up sitting down and screwing around with my calls and kind of messing with the bulls heads when this guy stepped out from across the draw and started to come in. He came in at 19 yards screamed in my face before I shot him. I had not planned on shooting him becuase of the caliber of bulls I was seeing but I told myself if he comes in closer than 20 yards he is going down. Well he did! Enjoy.

Nice bull... sounds like you had a great hunt!

wyobowhunt,
Laramie Peak in the top left hand corner of the pic, is that what you are refering to? I'd have to agree...

19 yds yep I would pull the string on him too. Good looking country.

0 I was blessed to draw it the fist time. I am a resident. The odds for us are 1 in three. I am going to try again for it and try for something a little bigger.

TreeEM,

Great bull. I would have dropped the hammer as well. Had the same issue a few years back on a good LE unit in a different state. Was seeing some nice 320-340 bulls, but when the mature 260-270 bull walked out 30 yards broadside, couldn't help myself. Don't regret it for a second.

What did you think of the access and pressure in 7? Lots of hunters? Public of private?

They access is what it is. If you know how to find the hot spots then you have a great chance to shoot a 340+. But it is also nice to hunt one with a private land trespass fee. As for the hunters, archery season there are a moderate stream of them on the private property but they hit the main areas not the out of the way ones. During gun season its a circus, as are all the untis in the state during that season. I can only speak for the land that I know of in that unit. There is pelnty more to hunt and there are a ton of elk in this unit. If a hunter were to do his homewrok and use his respources then things could be good. Thats all I will say for now.

Believe me when I say that he was not the only one that I chased. I had chased some other ones too. A 380 class and a 370 class bull that were very nice bulls. I just did not play my cards right with them. A friend of mine saw more of those class bulls and a 400+ inch bull. So they are defenitly there.
