Looked over the 2010 odds for bulls in these units. I don't know if I'm missing something or ? It looks like there was only one NR tag per unit for regular fee applicants? Is this correct? My long odds just got ALOT longer if tags were cut down to one each for the cheapie tag price.

I think you were looking at the random draw odds.

For 2010 Nonresident regular draw for max points had:

30- 5 tags
31- 6 tags
32- 6 tags

Also, if you look at the odds, Wyo gave out 6 tags in 30 and 7 in 32 (which is more than likely due to a party application).

1 tag for each area was available for the random draw, regular fee.

So by being under the max point pool and applying for the regular fee, I might draw ........never? I might as well as bail and look into a general season tag I guess? Maybe somebody with good math skills could figure it out for me? Lets say for example going for a 31 tag next year with 3 points on the regular fee draw. 5 wil be max points next year and I will have 3. How long am I looking at to draw that tag?

Let's see, 174 applicants with max points applied for 6 tags in the PP draw and 266 applied with less than max.

I would say you have a long wait unless you get lucky in the random draw. Heck, even if you have max points, you're going to have to get lucky to draw that tag or wait 20 plus years. But, hey, somebody has to draw!

Congrats on figuring out why points systems suck balls! If you don't get in on the first year, you become a second class citizen.

Since there about a lifetime's amount of people in front of you, yes, there is a good possibility you could apply your entire life and still not draw a tag.

With the draw odds before the point system below 5% for those units there was a good possibility you could apply your entire life and still not draw a tag also. I like Wyomings system. There are lots of good areas that you can draw in Wyoming with less than max points, but yes the top high profile areas are going to be next to imposible to draw just like they were before the point system.

Great point! Most of the guys who complain about the points system think that no system gives them a better chance to draw. With no points system the average guy will never draw a great tag. But if you diligently put in with a system you will get a good tag at some point. Especially in Wyoming.

Your post has to probalby be one of the stupidest posts I've ever read on here in over 10 years of viewing this website.

"most of the guys who complain about the points system think that no system gives them a better chance to draw"

Yes it does give you a better chance to draw.

"With no points system the average guy will never draw a great tag" Explain this one to me? How would an above average guy have a better chance of drawing with no system? With no system EVERYONE HAS THE SAME CHANCE.

Lets punish every hunter who is growing up and were not old enough to start putting in when the points system started.

And there will be points creep even with the "lesser" units in WY. It will get to the point where it will take 3 or 4 points to draw a GEN tag. You watch.

Wyo I have to say that was kind of harsh. I do agree with you though. The points game does have its advantages but also disadvantages. I personally like the way NM runs their draw.

Cahunter,
You are right it was harsh and I apologize.

But the fact of the matter is life isn't fair yet points systems try to make it so.

I'd rather have a chance of drawing every year then wait 25 years for a tag.

I feel sorry for the future generations. They are going into a hell of a points creep.
