I got a late rifle hunt in unit 10. Have never hunted this unit before. This is my first tag on a good hunt. Does anybody have any tips on this unit for me. I am willing to put some time into scouting and hiking anywhere to find a nice bull. Thanks!!

cool good job on tag get info on water holes away from roads should kill a toad with little time spent scouting .my boss got 352 bull in there last year on private property with bow off water hole. have fun .

Congrats! Contact the Kaibab National Forest. You should be able to get a map from them to get you started.

Remember, no atv's on the Boquillas. Other than that, there aren't a lot of access issues through most of the unit.

Good luck. Post us some pics.

"......should kill a toad with little time spent scouting"

Not likely....I have the same tag and have hunted this unit in all seasons. The late season is hard, the elk can be very scattered.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-31-10 AT 07:15PM (MST)[p]AMEN sremin. I have guided this hunt quite a few times, I have killed some great bulls there, NONE have been easy! Glass, glass, glass oh and glass some more! This hunt can kick your AZZ if your not prepared and do not scout!

Scouting is very important in unit 10. You shoudn't be looking for specific Bulls but rather learning the roads and more important you should be learning the glassing points.

Like the others have said , the late hunt can be really tough. Between Myself , friends and family I have hunted unit 10 the past 7 straight years and the hardest part is finding Bulls that are not all busted up.

Send me a PM if you want specific areas to start. My Son drew the same hunt again this year so I will be there also.

You guys mean to tell me that if you draw a AZ unit 10 tag, you don't get to pick your favorite 400" bull from the herd? Weird!

Scout hard, lots of land with scattered elk. Start north of Pica Camp, real good elk country and some good late bulls have come from on top of the Aubreys every year.

I just went and picked up some maps yesterday. That would be great if you are willing to give me some starting points. I plan on getting up to the unit soon just to get to know it. Have a good day
