Since they are getting hard to find nowadays, I thought you may enjoy seeing a couple.

Those are some of the sweetest looking jeeps I've ever seen.
I wouldnt mind having one of those as long as it came with the same accessories as the ones in the pictures. :D
Great pics, that NT is awesome.

Since what are getting hard to find these days.....those jeeps or those bucks? I think it's probably easier to find one of those ol' Jeeps. :) Pretty sweet pics. Thanks! Got any dates on em'?

Nice looking Jeeps, don't care for the extra distraction................Are you kidding, what great pictures and anyone that you know in the pictures and where and when? Give us some details.

Brian

Yeah, what Chef said, I only saw a jeep in the first picture.

Look at the second picture and the Jeep on the left side with what looks like a "home made top". It is the same Jeep in the last picture. Wonder if those two Bucks were taken at the same time???

Jeeps are the best! I grew up hunting out of my fathers 1960 Willy's CJ3B high hood. Had to sit on a pile of coats to learn how to drive that thing when I was 11 or 12, couldn't see over the hood! He still has it and threatens me that he is going to sell it instead of letting me have it, or give it to the grandkids. Lay the windshield down, no top, just a roll bar to hang on to! That's the way to get there! No camo either, painted it fire engine yellow in the early 80's.

The pictures came out of my Grandpa's photo album. As far as I know all four pictures were taked in 1957. I don't have any info on the hunter or buck in the top picture except he was in the same camp. I don't think the bottom buck was ever entered in B & C but it was entered in the Az. book. In the 1990 Az. record book it was number 11. It had 13 on one side 15 on the other scoring 267.6.
Sorry I don't have more info.

JEEP? I didn't see any jeeps. where??? i would love to check them out but i couldn't see them anywhere.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-31-06 AT 10:45AM (MST)[p]Those are some awesome bucks in those jeeps.

Jeeps are alot of fun.My first was a 60' willys.Had the old F-head 134 engine top speed was about 37 mph.Unless you were going downhill in Georgia overdrive.I was gonna sell it but I had to many memories to part with it so I gave it to my dad.

I now have a 47' wills cj-2a. It has a 327 w/a 4 speed it can drive smoothly at 70mph (I got it up to 90 but it got kinda squirrely :) ) And in Granny it can really crawl.

Here's a pic of it with my god-daughter.

Bucksnort,
How did you fit a 327 under there? Are you using the original frame? You must have gotten bigger axles, that 327 would snap the little stock axles.

I sure love those old pictures. The typical buck would be close to the 200" mark as well. judging from the picture it looks like they were shot on the same trip! I think we all grew up in the wrong era.

"Old Jeep photo" the "Tiger Too" with a Washington State Blacktail buck taken in 1968 when I was 17. We took the buck back to the garage, hung it, drove back to our honeyhole and low and behold found a 4x4 to haul back to keep the first buck company. I don't know what happened to my friends jeep, but I do know that the Blacktail Buck's managed to pass along their gene's as our honeyhole isn't empty yet!!
This is my first post, my hunting buddy encouraged me to send in the old photo of the jeep, I hope I attached it correctly. Keep up the good work on this website.

Bobcat, I see the Buck has his neck cut. My dad seemed to always do that when he dressed his deer to bleed them. I dont do that but seeing your pic made me think of my dad who passed away some years ago. Anyway I am new to this site as well, WELCOME!

FresnoHunter,
I'm not sure if I cut the buck's throat, or if my friends older brother did it. That's one part of the memory that's faded away, however, I can still close my eyes and relive the rest of that hunt: from the moment I first spotted him, to how he almost got away. I'm glad the photo brought back good memories of your Dad. I'll always remember when my Dad spotted what was to be my first buck below us, and whispered to me to shoot him. That was the beginning of about 35 hunting seasons we often spent together.
Hey, Fresno, Thank You for the memories! Bobcat
