Does anybody have any pics of a Shoulder Mount on a free standing base??? I would like to see something like this. I have pretty low ceilings in my house and I'm wondering what I'm going to do If I ever want to mount something.
I would appreciate any help and pics.
Thanks,
Matt

That's great! That's kind of what I'm looking for. I have wondered about building a pedestal as well. Some thing like this.

Is this for an elk? We had to have the wife's bull in the house and it is an alert mount, so we have a base about 10 inches high and the elk then goes right up to the ceiling. If you want to see that, I can get a picture later and post it up..
It sits low but it looks awesome...

Here is the photo of my wife's bull on a small base we built so she could have it in the house... Of course, the rest of my animals are in the basement or out in the shed...LOL..

That is an awesome bull you posted. I love the browtines. Two years ago I chased a bull for half my hunt that had very similar brows but could never close the deal. I am happy with the bull I killed but I always look back to that freaky browed bull and wish.

?Here?s to the hero's that Git-R-Done!!?

Wow! you didn't have much choice, that's a huge bull with some major tine length.

I was hoping to build something a little higher for an elk and then maybe get the taxi to put the bull in a bugling position with his head slightly tilted back. It might give me a little more room If I do that.
I'm just brainstorming here, I don't have anything to mount just yet. A guy can dream can't he?

Thanks for all the stuff posted.

We had picked a form where the bull had his nose higher which laid the antlers back, but couldn't get a form in that size. You don't realize how big these animals are until you try and stick them in a room with regular ceilings. And they take up a ton of room where they stick out close to 4 feet and are that wide also...It is a good thing we have a large room to put him in..

A form of the correct size can be altered to the position you desire. Likewise, a form in the pose you desire but the wrong size can be altered to the correct size.
My axis buck was smaller than the smallest form available. The form was a wall mount straight forward. I had to make it smaller, turn the neck and add on the back portion to make it a pedestal mount. I mounted on the stacked "rocks" because I killed it in Hawaii near a place that has acres of stacked rocks called "the garden of the gods" The base and backing is Koa wood, a Hawaiian Acacia.

Glass-eye,
I have altered forms before but with the time frame and since it wasn't a big problem, we just went with what we had..
We didn't know for sure where we were going to put it beforehand.
And by the way, very nice looking mount!!!!
