I picked up my 2009 Bull from my Taxidermist on Saturday and thought I would share some pics. I think the mount turned out great and am real happy with the finished product on my wall at home. Here are some pics:

Great bull, Great mount ! Thats what my 2010 Wyoming bull is going to look like !

Oilcan,
I was very impressed with the turnaround time as well. I have had other heads done that took well over a year, so to get it back in 7 months with GREAT quality was a pleasant surprise!!

elkhunterUT you hear some real horror stories on here about Taxi work i'm impressed.Just curious What weapon did you use?

What did he score? I drew a bull tag for this year and I am trying to get all the pratice I can get scoring bulls. Thanks. Congrats on a great bull. Looks awesome!

Oilcan,
I took him with a rifle (7mm / 150 grain Nosler Partition).

FloppyHat,
Dustin Beratto out of Herriman did the work for me. I went to high school with Dustin and was real impressed with some work he had finished and entered into several of the Utah Taxidermy association shows held at Cabelas in past years and at the expo this year. He did a deer for my Dad and Brother recently and did a great job on those as well and his turnaround time has been very impressive on all 3 animals he has done for us. I would definitely recommend him!

Elkhunter, I drew archery Wasatch this year. Do you have any suggestions on area's to check out? I would love to kill a bull in the 320-360 range, or is my goal too lofty? Thanks

bowhunterb_3,
Congrats on the Wasatch archery tag this year. My Brother-in-law drew the same tag, so I will be spending quite a bit of time on the unit helping him as much as possible this fall. I think your goal is reasonable and it is certainly an individual thing, however, I personally would not pass up a good 320-330 bull with a bow on the Wasatch (especially if you have never killed a mature bull before). You will likely see a few bulls pushing the 340+ mark, but they are not all over the place.

As I am sure you are already aware, your "real" opportunities to kill an animal with a bow (within shooting range, not get winded, etc)are so limited that you can't afford to pass on bulls in the 320 range on that unit if you would be happy with one of that size because the bulk of the bulls you will encounter are in that range. If you would only be happy with a 340+ bull and are ok with the possibility of eating tag soup, then by all means hold out for a bigger bull because they are certainly there if you hunt hard, but you may not get enough opportunities with a bull of that size on the unit to seal the deal with archery equipment. Just my opinion.

Best of luck - I know for sure you will have a fun time no matter the outcome and it is a great year to have an archery tag with the hunt going to the 17th of September.

That is pretty - what did you catch him with?

Nice bull and the work looks great. Looks like a great location in your house to display your memory.

Congrats on a nice bull.

That turned out real nice.

Great looking bull.

We need to get you a Ram to go next to your bull now!

I agree on the Ram Robb - I just need to convince the DWR to change that unsuccessful notification to a successful one on my Bighorn sheep application!! :)

Looks great! My Dad drew a LE Archery Bull tag for the Manti unit. I'm sure he'll be pleased with something like that.
