Here is one in Utah I found. It was the largest I had ever seen in an any bull unit. I was within ear shot of the bull that made it but he smelled me and left like a ghost. This was back when I was using my old Bear Polar Bear II compound. I purchased it back in 1979. The picture was taken back in the 90's. This bow is now in my collection of bows hanging in my basement.

I've never taken photos of just rubs, but I have taken a few photos of elk making the rubs. Most are not great as the light is generally not that good and there is way too much movement going on, but here are a couple I could find in my many files.

Two rubs I took a picture of last year.

The first is interesting because it's 35 miles from Mesa, and it's for sure summering that close, taken in August, pretty soon they'll be down here in the golf courses.

Second is a yucca rub, here's my buddy as we were scouting for his hunt.

Here's a pretty unusual rub/scrape. I found this a couple years ago in late December near Estes Park, CO. Some elk had raked the tree and torn up the ground pretty good. Anyone else seen anything like this so late in the year?

Elk rub their antlers till the day they fall off. Keeping that in mind, elk rubs are found on winter range and summer range and don't mean a heck of alot unless they are smoking fresh. Just sayin...
