You guy's are getting into some wicked bucks down there. Matt, no wonder you don't want to go to PG until December. LOL.

LOL, it just would've been an expensive hunting season...

Theres actually a ton of country south of pg as well as south of Quesnel that I'd love to hunt! A lot of that old growth fir in that country could provide some great hunting!

Matt,
I'll probably find the remnants of his sheds 2 or 3 yeas from now after the rodents are done with them. :( Did you get pics of that real wide buck that we saw? I never did get any video of him.

Tuffer,
There are bucks like these all over the place in your backyard. If the price of gas wasn't so dang expensive for my ol' Blazer I'd make a trip up there this year and show ya how to find them. :)

Steve, Im pretty sure i remember getting the pics of him. We only saw him for a couple of minutes but we had enough time to tell that he had busted his g4 on that one side, and that is the same as the buck i have pictures of. Im not sure what other buck it could be if it isnt that wide one?

This weekend Steve and I will be hitting up that elk area we were telling ya about. Hopefully it goes well. We'll have to try and line something up for next weekend, depending on how things pan out.

Matt

That busted G4 buck was hanging out with the young double dropper. I'm talking about that wide 3x4 we saw with the heavy 5x4.

I'm gonna hit an area I've been workin' in and see if I can find some elk and whitey sheds. The elk are rare in there but I saw a good sized bull this week with a fair amount of new growth already. He's hanging out near where my work partner picked up that older 6 point shed in the fall. A ton of whitetails in there right now too. It's thick country, but hopefully I'll turn up some tine.

LOL, I know these big bucks are all over.

Gas prices? I think you're more intimidated of the grand interior plateau than anything. In mountainous, steep terrain you can predict a mule deers habits easier than the rolling forests of the Cariboo.

Up here the funnels are harder to recognize and typical mule deer patterns are Tuff to calculate. There's 150-160 bucks making mistakes all around here, but the biggies are a brood of nocturnal, holed up, jerks.

With such a high population of does these days the big bucks rarely have to seek very far for action in the rut. They let the 150's and 160's roam the country-side.

If I didn't think there was huge bucks up here, I'd be heading down to your place. LOL.

You guy's should plan a trip up here. There's a lot of muley holes up here.

Tuffer,
LOL! The flat ground does scare me. I wouldn't know how to walk correctly as I'm so used to sidehilling it in the steep crap.
BTW Did you ever make it out shed hunting in that area in the Chilcotin?

People used to think it was the water from the North Thompson that made you guy's walk on an angle. Turns out it was just slant calibration. LOL.

We did make it down to the Chilcotin for a few days, but we spent our time concentrating on wolves. I don't think I'll be making it down this year. I've got a bet to win and some hidey holes to secure for this fall.

Are you still going to make it over towards the Fraser?

Hoping to smack a big ol' bruin within the first couple of weeks in May so I can hit some of the Fraser country on the longweekend. That sage country doesn't green up as bad as here so I still should be able to find some tine that late.

BCBoy & Mattb

Ask Tuffer about the binos he's using (sorry Tuffer)....probably one of the reasons he hasn't shot a big un yet (GRIN)

LMAO...#1 rule I learned last year: Make sure your optics and the rest of your gear can hold its own through the season! By the time Bucks and I had headed out hunting my optics were practically toast.

First off my Bushnell bino strap clips couldn't handle the cold weather so I had to result to using binder twine as a quick substitute for the last few days of hunting season. I could only imagine what BCbucks thought when we were glassing at some does and I've got binder twine holding up my broken binos...

The B&L 10x50 Wide Anle's although heavy and bulky, seemed like they would be alright. When they were new they performed around average at best. Well as the hunting season went by and some hard miles of kicking up the dust for muleys, sighting one deer would actually turn into sighting two deer. For some reason all I could see was double through the dang things. By the end of the season I could see antlers but I couldn't see how many, LOL. I quickly found judging through your scope sucks!

So making a short story long, I've been saving for a new pair since last January and within the next 4 weeks I'll be packing a set of those green kind with a little silver bird on em... I hope they help.

LMAO!!! Don't feel too bad Tuffer. Good glass would help but BCBucks is a glassin' machine. The guy put us all to shame last fall.

Tuff, while I don't think Steves got binder twine on his binos I bet theres some Duct tape. Binder twine for holding your boots together. lol

Horshoe,
It's not duct tape, it's electricians tape. LOL! Those damn eyecups keep falling down. :( As for my boots, that's where the duct tape is. Don't forget the flagging ribbon too. Should be able to get at least a whole nuther season out of them before I chuck em. :)
