My friends and I drew the coveted Northeast rifle tag this year (third choice nonetheless) and I have worked a deal to hunt some land near Arcadia, its Indian land that is leased to a friends dad, around 4 hundred acres I was told. Is anyone familiar with this area and do you think its worth the time and effort? Three of us are coming from out of state,2 AZ and 1 IN, and we were hoping for 4 points at least and at best...well you know...maybe BOBCATS nomad buck anyhow I would appreciate any input on this from you guys up in the basin.
Thanks,
Jeff

Just so you know it is not legal to hunt the tribes property even if he has it leased. There are some good bucks that run up and down the river in that area. I would ask for a rough lay out of the propery and surrounding. If any of it is Alfala or near corn fields you will more than likely be in business.

Good luck,

Jeremy

WELL JAY!!!

South_sloper IS RIGHT!!!

JUST CUZZ HE HAS IT LEASED DOESN'T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO HUNT IT!!!

THE UTE TRIBE HAS THEIR OWN LAWS!!!

MY ADVICE IS TO OBEY THEM!!!

I'VE SEEN MANY OF GUNS CONFISCATED BY UTE WARDENS FOR TRESPASSING!!!

IT'S ALSO FEDERAL COURT YOU'RE DEALING WITH!!!

NEVER SEEN A NOMAD BUCK WORTH THAT MUCH TROUBLE!!!

WHO'S YOUR BUDDY/FRIEND IN ARCADIA???

SEND ME A PM IF YOU'D LIKE???

THE ONLY bobcat HUNTING THE OVER RATED COVETED LAND OF THE NOMAD BUCK NE REGION AGAIN!!!

Yeah, I talked to my Uncle, big Jim, who lives out in the Uintah Basin area, and he said that you better be damn careful with the Ute tribe out there, or they may confiscate all kinds of stuff. Just a heads up.

Yeah, I'll never forget seeing a cowboy walking down the road up Whiterocks Canyon. We asked him if he was ok and he proceeded to tell us about his run-in with the Indian Wardens. The guy shot a bull on the Indian side of the fence and the Indian warden met him there. He lost his gun, truck, and the bull. He was sent on his way by foot with a ticket in his hand (his camp was just up the canyon on US lands). Boy was he miffed.

If you do decide to hunt that Indian land near Arcadia.... well don't post about it on the net.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll need to talk to him about that. The stinking draw screwed up all kinds of plans we had. I guess that will learn us to put in for something we really didnt want in the first place, my buddy in Arizona did all the apps and just wanted to hunt I guess.

200itus, That wouldn't be Big Jim Brotherson would it? He was one hell of a mule deer hunter. In the late 60's he brought more than one 200 inch buck off that pigeon water/south slope area. Best regards to your uncle!

If you need some general pointers send me a pm.

The only slope dumb enough to think you can still get a decent buck in the NE region. LOL

Hell Yeah, my uncle is Big Jim Brotherson, he was a hell of hunter back in the good ole days. He took a nice big ole non-typical out of Bear Wallow area in the early 70's as well. These days he mostly just farms a little, hangs with the grandkids, he will bust the occasional yoder dog that is screwin' with his calves, you know mostly that kind of stuff. I'll tell him you said hi!

If you are going to hunt tribal land you will have to aquire a tribal tag.
